Was the word "indication" forgotten in the title or did you want to make it a bit more clickbait?

Did they Land 36L instead of 36R?

They landed on 36R like the graphics and audio showed

@@xplayman Ohhh i figured it out now, it's a 'pair' of runways to the left, and the other 'pair' to the right is 35L/35C (with 35R being even more to the right). My bad, im still quite new to the world of aviation 😅

I had the same question: Did they land on the wrong runway, or is the graphic off?

@@clickster1883 DFW has two parallel runways on the West and two parallel runways on the East. Whenever they have more than 3 runways with the exact same magnetic heading, they just change the number by one digit. So instead of 35L 35LC 35RC 35R or whatever other confusing thing can be figured out, they just do 35L 35R 36L 36R. However, all 4 runways have the same magnetic heading.

Thought ATC could have been a bit more assistance minded and a bob more urgent C-

Nope, you are not a pilot I can tell. ATC did exactly what they should’ve done.

It’s called a shorted out fire loop and can be identified by fire test of the 2 loop detector system. With no other fire indications should’ve been tested then eliminated from the system to allow normal operation to get fixed at next destination. Inexperienced pilots.

If you're not in the flight deck, you don't know... Things happen a lot faster and decisions have to be made on a moments notice. If they did a QRH procedure then they made the decision to return. Whether the right decision to return or not can be discussed on the ground, but in-flight, you respond to what you have and your checklists. Also, those CRJ-900s suck, for Mesa.

@@erauprcwa You’re correct I wasn’t in the flight deck. I didn’t know that was a criterial for making an informed comment. Having spent 38 years with major airline from everything from CV580 to B747-400 thought I had enough insight that many who see these do not have. Engine fires usually have numerous other indications other then just a fire loop light. With only a fire indicator loop lite many pilots are quick to assume a fire without cross referencing other engine indications. Shortly after takeoff usually there is smoke from the engine as seen by tower but this wasn’t mentioned. I am all to aware of just how fast malfunctions can progress to an emergency, been there done that and have the T-shirt to prove it. RJ pilots are many times some of your entry level pilots and as such prone to making errors if this is their first emergency.

@@a10pilot69 I don't disagree with you about what potentially happened. I think you're actually right. However, I'm always hesitant to criticize any flight crew for decisions made, specifically during critical phases of flight. I used to work for Mesa, probably flew that particular airplane in question. Those airplanes sucked. I've had a fire, gear issues, multiple flap issues, pressurization, you name it. So in the given situation, I wouldn't trust the airplane to continue to my destination and would opt to return. That's my context behind not criticizing the pilots because knowing that airplane specifically with that company... It's why I left when I did.

@@erauprcwa well I just commented on the ATC tape conversation. Most people here do not have experience to understand the complexities of modern jet aircraft. Does bode well for Mesa with that many maintenance issues. I’m also not criticizing crew decision to RTB just want public to know it isn’t an automatic fire by having an indication. There are many facets to aircraft incidents; crew experience & confidence in equipment is always a consideration.
