Hi tried two different piggyback tuning modules on a 2003 3.2TD Shogun. My objectives were improved fuel consumption and improved drivability. Both improved performance but at the expense of greater fuel consumption and black smoke under load. I always swapped back for MOTs because I wasn't confident about emissions. In contrast, I had my 2008 Hobby Toskana 750 remaped. The 3.0ltr 6 speed Fiat unit was already pretty good but after the remap, wow! Fuel consumption improved 15%, drivability transformed with a much improved spread of torque. On winding B roads it can he left in 4th, no more back and forth between 3rd and 4th. Pulling power is superb and no problem with MOTs. I pay an additional £15 on my insurance. Yes I know hardly anyone I informs their insurance company but I sleep at night knowing that my insurance is valid. Remap Yes, Tuning Module, No.

If you opt for superchips blue fin you can change back to standard map at will but beware most main dealer diagnostics can tell on ecu history that something has change dramatically

Your fuel consumption has gone DOWN, not up as stated in your video. You get a 3mpg increase in efficiency, hence you REDUCE your consumption.

Hi from Sweden! It's been a while since you posted this video, but I'm still trying to ask you a question. I have had a well-known company to trim my Fiat Ducato through the software from 130 to 180 hp and a torque from 334 NM to 426 NM. The high torque means that even at a speed below 1500 rpm you can drive in high gears under high load. Now to my question: How is the gearbox and driveline affected by the high load? Is it preferable to be in lower gear and higher rpm to reduce the load on these components or what do you think?

Remap is a no brainer the difference is unbelievable, if you do your own clutch it's a weekend job £200 at most, cars have loads more power than a van and there ok with the power , had mine remapped 6 years ago not had any issues, just service the engine and gearbox regular that's oils changes doesn't cost much if you do it yourself not rocket science

Problem with a remap is Warranty would be void on a new vehicle also if Fiat reprogram the ECU the remap will have to be done again that's another expensive job and that's not cost effective.
