Engine Mock Up Block We Use One to Test Fit Mounts

We found a 302 Plastic Mock up block to use for test fitting components. We install new engine mounts to replace the old, damaged and ruined originals.

I know exactly why the tab and hole was put into the engine mount frame brackets. 1967 mustangs with 289 had one year only motor mounts that NO ONE sells. The 67 mounts allowed block to sit lower to allow for factory air cleaner. The 68 had 66, 68- 70 mounts with a shorter air cleaner. No one can afford 300 bucks for nos motor mounts so they bugger up the frame brackets to fit 66, 68-70 289 302 mounts.

Was coming to the comments to post just this. I'm now running the 68 brackets with the matching motor mounts and a knockoff Hi-Po air cleaner that has a port for the hose from the oil filler cap. There is a right (non-fabricobbled) way to modify the 67 mounts by drilling a separate hole, but those NPD mounts do the trick really nicely and have what seems like a good coating on them.
