ENGINE MOCK-UP - E30 VR6 PROJECT PART 3

Hey you should cut the bellhousing to clear the timing cover. One ive seen people do this to fit starters on K swaps in e30s and two the clutch disk is too far away and the stock g260 input shaft doesnt engage and it doesnt rest in the pilot bearing. Might be easier to chop up the bellhousing rather than do the crazy plate which i would love to see btw

That would be an option but I dont want to cut the transmission bellhousing. And anyway I wanted to keep the oem trans position so I didn't have to play with the linkage or driveshaft. The adapter plate is needed to push the motor forward or else would need to cut the firewall

I didn't see a spot for the starter on that adapter. what are your plans for that? very ambitious project

The starter will be placed on the passenger side of the engine where it is normally place on a longitudinal VR6 setup (Touareg for example).
