Happy belated birthday, Lady Mela! I went through some pretty rough trauma therapy years ago, and you aren't kidding about it getting worse before it gets better . I actually got physically ill after one session. Now I have serious anxiety, but I'm finding that lots of us are dealing with it. Therapy is a wonderful thing. I hope one day it's not so stigmatized.

I use to live in Elephant Butte. And my favorite place in NM is White Sands! The reason it was difficult to slide was because it had recently rained. The most magical times to be there is at sunset and during a full moon. Both times leave you feeling like you are in a different planet. Bless your heart about dealing with anxiety. I'm glad you are able to get help and work through it! I do get tense in some travel situations and I am not a city girl. I currently live in NW Montana in the middle of grizzly and mountain lion country, and surprisingly that doesn't cause me the stress that the cities and traffic do. Go figure!😁 Thanks for sharing as I know this will help others!

Just came across your videos. I am the 1,000th subscriber! yay! You guys are such a cute couple! My wife and I were building a skoolie which we sold to someone who offered us everything we had in it. In turn we bought a 1993 Newell coach after looking at several nice bus conversions but all had crapped out engines. We look forward to doing more road trips and in fact our stop over place of choice has been Cracker Barrel. On our maiden run, we had a front flat tire, lost power to our toad (Jeep), lost inverter, lost the refrigerator and finally, lost our generator! At the end of the day, we pressed on and figured you just gotta roll with the punches and not let this incredible lifestyle halt you. Proud of both of you.

Its not easy to talk about mental illness - I suffer from OCD, and I understand anxiety, because OCD brings on all kinds of anxiety, and I too stress over traveling because I don't like to be away from home, but you have the most unique situation by which you are traveling with your home, so you are always home in a sense, and that must be good not only for the soul, but it gives you that sense that you are always home no matter where you are in this country and I think that would be good for me - except I don't have the will/the knowledge to build out a bus like you two did - I have watched all of your videos and witnessed your struggles in making your dream come true - you both are amazing apart and together - you are a real team, and I can see the support that Don brings to you and you to him. I can't wait to see where you take us next.

Happy Bleated Birthday Mela, looks as though you had a great day, magnificent area to camp and explore, Mela I admire your courage in dealing with your issues the only thing important is take care of you, as far as the bus goes generally flickering of gauges usually means a lose connection or faulty wiring, a faulty sender (such as a petrol gauge sender) will result in either no reading or at the top of the gauge, a faulty gauge may show the wrong reading or several different positions through out normal use or nothing at all, now just a personal observation, I love to go fishing and live adjacent to one of the most prolific fishing areas in the world as in the Hauraki Gulf, for over 40 years I have had a ball boating, diving, waterskiing & fishing now a couple of days ago fed up with the incessant pressure of building the bus I fired up the boat for the first time this season (our summer), it took a full day to prepare and although I do take friends often sometimes I like the solitude to just chill with my own thoughts, so then at 5.00am away I went now don't get me wrong because I had the best day, perfect weather, no wind & lots of big fish, what makes me a little sad is and this is really the point for you guys I now suffer crippling arthritis in my hands, osteoarthritis in my left knee making it difficult to steer the boat, launch & retrieve, catch the fish and clean the boat at the end of the day even though I have pain medication it's still a struggle and the realization dawned on me maybe for the first time that there's not too many days left for me to enjoy this activity that I love so much, I only write this to maybe remind you guys to enjoy every moment as it seems to me it was only yesterday I bought my first boat and forty years have gone in a flash, sorry to write an essay but I hope it will encourage you guys to live it to the max while you can as things can change in front of your eyes. as always safe travels.

Many wally worlds have the street sweepers. Sometimes they sound like they come so clise they’re going to sideswipe you. Were you staying in Alamogordo or Las Cruses?
@Military-Museum-LP Жыл бұрын
These buses are sold only after they made MILLIONS of miles. These bus lines have excellent preventative maintenance programs but remember every part has a duration period and unless you know how many hours each part has on it you will never know when some part reaches its maximum life. We’re you giving a maintenance log with the bus? F. Y. I. Your bus has what’s called a (UN driven or no power)TAG AXLE. That axle is fixed as in your cant change the height of the axle. If it was a LIFT AXLE you could raise (by air) it when you need maximum traction to the drive axle. So you must remember slightly off road is a guaranteed stuck. Iced conditions are also a challenge because that tag axle won’t let you see 100% weight on the drive axle. Even a driveway entrance that’s not level could cause you to Spin out. Your tag axle should be air ride. You can add a switch that will allow you to dump the air in the tag axle letting it “float”. This would not let you have 100% weight on the drive axle but 90% yes. Kids You are doing fine!

Sorry for your anxiety and good for you that you are taking steps to cope with your chronic disease. However I want to point out that I am very disappointed that you dismiss a hard working man who tries to make a living in the middle of the night so people can have a positive shopping experience when they go shopping. Well I am sorry you couldn’t sleep. Walmart is kind enough to provide you FREE accommodation so please be respectful to the workers and stop complaining. If you want a peaceful night and beautiful morning view, I would recommend going to an RV campground. Please do not ruin the free accommodation for the rest of us.
@Rehabit8 Жыл бұрын
Ruin it for the rest of you??? We called ahead of time to make sure it was okay to park there, we parked in the correct space, we arrived at the appropriate time, we left at the appropriate time, we left no trace, we sat quietly in our rig when we couldn't sleep showing no disrespect to anyone (no one is upset with the man working, obviously he is just doing his job and this was an unlucky night for us to be), we spent about $300 at Walmart that day purchasing groceries and various supplies we needed and continue to shop and support Walmart because we appreciate that they offer free overnight parking, we had a nice long chat to a manager who arrived for work in the morning and thought our rig was cool and he wanted to know more about it and share his conversion stories. It took a lot of courage to share what living on the road with PTSD and extreme anxiety is really like. We show the truth of what living full time on the road is really like, and it is not always a beautiful morning view or a quiet nights sleep.
