Pete, these videos are great. SO very detailed. I have a VX1100 and VXR1800 (2009/2011). Lost a timing chain on my VXR and just had the heads redone at a local engine builder. Your breakdown of the head was a great visual to go along with my factory service manual. I plan on cleaning up the head on the VX Cruiser this fall.

This will be interesting I'm going to watch them now. My 2006 Corolla has a 1800cc 4 cylinder and it's done 287,000km which is 178,000 miles. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it, but I keep getting that itch to work on it. How much longer till the bottom end bearing shells wear out, that would be a fun little exercise to replace those and satisfy my need to wrench on it. Maybe I need to buy a Ford, then I'll be wrenching on it every weekend.

+KiwiPowerNZ Hey...if it's not broke don't fix it. I'm still working on this engine

I'll be interested to see the result...The fact that water is in all the cylinders and pretty uniform I wonder if it ingested a mouthful of water or there is corrosion somewhere on the inlet manifold..

What caused the water to get into the cylinders on this ski? Improper flushing? Blown head gasket?

I never really found out, but it must have back flushed somehow

Look for any loose, cracked or fallen off hoses first
@WizzRacing9 жыл бұрын
Make sure to check the rear main seal. If it's pushed out at all. Water is in the crankcase and most likely a bent rod as well.
@PetesGarage9 жыл бұрын
When I put it away last winter it ran awesome. This was right at first start up. I'm thinking cracked head
@WizzRacing9 жыл бұрын
***** I worked for Yamaha Motors for 4 years. We would just stick a pencil in each cylinder at TDC. See if any don't match the rest. Then check the rear main seal. To see if it's pushed out. If they are. We would just order a new rebuilt one. As the labor and parts cost more then the rebuilt one. If you just bent a valve. You got lucky. Most the time the rod takes the hit.
@PetesGarage9 жыл бұрын
Somehow water is getting into the cylinders. No bent valves or rods. Could be just the head gasket but I can't tell at this point. I need your expert help on this one
@WizzRacing9 жыл бұрын
***** I'm not saying the head gasket isn't bad as well. In most cases it's getting water from only two places in the combustion chamber. The pump seal got blown out and induced water in the intake. Or it over heated and warped the head enough to allow water to bypass the gasket. As I'm assuming you winterized it and drained the water out the engine because if you didn't the block could be cracked and it doesn't take much water left in the engine to cause that. I'm talking just a cup full is enough.
@PetesGarage9 жыл бұрын
Ok...here's the situation. When I started it there was oil coming out with the water from the jet drive. Oil was getting in the cylinders and white smoke was coming out as well. I shut it down and left the hose water running. When I pulled the plugs the cylinders were full of water...so...oil and water was getting into the cylinders. I will not say the block was bone dry. But it sat for at least 4 months before it was cold enough to freeze so any moisture should have dried up. Since no water got into the oil system (oil reservoir) I'm assuming it was all internal. Either the head gasket or cracked head. The even nature of water distribution makes me believe head gasket

Pete, did you ever diagnose the problem with this wave runner engine?
@PetesGarage6 жыл бұрын
I did not find any major problem. It was most likely feeding back through the exhaust.

Hey Pete. I Have a 2007 yamaha waverunner fx ho 1100 engine that is being check because I bought it used and it seems wasn't being serviced. We found that the crank bearings are burned but the crank is ok. Can you guide me on what bearings are the right OEM ones to buy. The come in different color from yamaha. I'm not even sure if the ones we took out were changed before.
@PetesGarage2 жыл бұрын
There has to be a measurement guide somewhere

I bought a manual a found all the instructions and bearing code table. The crankcase number 6B600 Y-1 and the number on the flyweight lobe which is 22222-2322 MBC does not give me a code which is in the manual. Incase you can help the number on the Conrod end cap is 5B

I'm sure you've finished this project a long time ago. But any chance you still have this waverunner? I have an extra engine and am looking for a ski to drop it in. Just thought I'd ask in case you pushed this project to the back of the shop. I love your videos. Keep em coming.

if you had a stuck injector on this jet ski could it be the ecu damaged ? or the dealer working my bill up? if one injector is pumping to much fuel does it simply just need replacing or repairing?

I have a 2007 Yamaha VX110 sport jet ski and I have a problem with it that it beeps when I'm using it and it turns a warning light on and an engine light on the dashboard. When I turn it off and turn it back on it stops beeping for a couple of minutes and then starts beeping again. sometimes it doesn't beep for a long time. Do you know what can be causing this?

+Petes Garage Thank You! How can I find whats causing the engine to over heat? Is there any suggestion you can give to find whats causing this problem?

You can get the code by holding the circle button down on the dash. Have it running and silence the alarm, then press and hold the button for 8-15sec until a code comes up. Then look online for what your code corresponds to
