Rigging Engine Controls on the #longnosethunder - Clip from Episode 2
After the first FCF attempt we needed to adjust the reverse thrust linkages and recheck the engine for leaks. When I arrived at the shop Quentin was already elbow deep in the effort and I grabbed a camera to try to document his process. The biggest thing was to try to get the guys to talk as much as possible to use this opportunity to anything we could about the engine that would help us get it to Texas.

Come along as we talk through some of the specific challenges rigging the Walter engine to the narrow LongNoseThunder throttle console. This sequence is particularly "live" which is new for me but I think it gives an unusual perspective on how a program like this goes. I tried to show as much as we could here, let me know how you think we did.

I know I'm very late to the show here but engine oil and jet fuel are very much different, any tech should be able to identify it very easily. A tip you can share is engine oil will fluoresce under UV whereas jet fuel won't. Can help your techs locate small leaks or at the very least identify the fluid instead of smelling it. Helps when identifying the source of oil coming from a prop, if its just grease oil or engine oil. Grease oil also won't fluoresce.

So apparently selling engine oil with a dye that allows it to be differentiated from fuel (or vice versa) would be a huge deal

soooo.. what i see it a lot of massaging of the under-cowl linkages, which seem to now be deemed "all we can do". correct? whats wrong with massaging the throttle quadrant? to me i saw a lot of virtual head scratching, hemms and hawss,, nothing "fixed". (except oil leaks by what looked like over torquing the "b" nuts.)
