That background looks like the backlot of Paramount Studios in Hollywood. You are correct. As a former engineer, you know that the build quality in Mexico is very poor.

Yes it indeed does look like the Paramount Studios of Hollywood with that amazing lush greeneries haha! Also in case you’re curious, he is in Vancouver West Side which is amongst the wealthiest neighbourhoods in the entirety of Canada. The specific name of the neighbourhood I can’t seem to tell but if I have to guess, it’s either Point Grey or Shaughnessy.

My main gripe is the that it's super underpowered and the CVT feels like it shouldn't be in production. Feels like a vehicle from the 90's.

Thank you David for your deep analysis. I am trying to decide between corolla cross xle and hrv exl. At my location in US , corolla cross is $ 1k higher than hrv. Which one would you have preferred in that situation ?

At the end of this video he said he like the HRV. I have the hrv. The AC is amazing, turning radius is great. I like the real time mpg display, engine is very reliable. I get for sure 25 mpg.I’m so use to getting 30 mpg. But a 5 mpg difference is totally ok.

Have you done a video on just the new CRV? I see you did a comparison with RAV4 but can't find one for just CRV
@martinbecklen6486 Жыл бұрын
The HR-V has always been under-designed. Always under-powered. As you say, the styling of the Vezel is far superior. Wish Honda would re-introduce the Element as a better solution than the HR-V for today's very mobile market. Nice video.

It's jus a good combustion engine 2.0 non-turbo may be low on power but very high in reliability and durability give many years of trouble free years so thank God it not hybrid. It's a affordable AWD commuter car workhorse.

Talk of steering feel is so frequently missing in automotive reviews. So thank you. And honestly, this is one of the reasons I love Honda. They have their flaws, sure. But they very frequently have a bit of soul in their driving dynamics. With exceptions of course. Corolla Cross, not a bad car. But very much built to a price point appliance car when you take one down the road. My 8th gen civic, it wasn't a fancy car. And it was also an appliance. But the Honda engineers still took the time to make it pleasurable to drive. With trade-offs in NVH.

I like the format (likes and dislikes) and length of the video; great work. As to SUV preference, the Corolla Cross for me--although my desired version - the hybrid - isn't coming out in the US until "late spring" (May-June 2023).

David, I am going to give Honda a mark of A++ for recognizing that the people of Calgary and Kansas are generally taller and wider than the people of Kyoto. This means they have tailored specific models of HR-V/Vezel to the specific markets they are meant to serve. At the other extreme, the drivetrain efficiency and performance is nothing better than a C- for a vehicle making its debut in 2022. I am not asking Honda to build a new drivetrain, I am only asking them to pick the right one from their corporate parts bin. On the subject of pricing, the pricing in Canada is outrageous. Finally, I won't criticize the panel gaps. If someone was paying me 2 or 3 bucks an hour to build a car that sells for this much money, you would be able put your fist through the panel gaps 😉😉

The body panel misalignments "can be handled by the dealer"? I can easily imagine, from past experiences, the dealer saying, "They're all that way, it's within factory specs, there's nothing we can do." Or (again from past experience) they will take the car and make the problem worse, then have you leave the car with them, again-and-again, until they wear you out and get you to just accept it. I have zero faith in auto dealers, whether for sales or service.

I own a 2020 HRV Sport trim and this looks much improved especially the Civic like interior. However, like my HRV this new model is still underpowered and really needs the new Turbo Civic engine to be competitive. Also, it really bugs me that Honda is eliminating the engine temperature gauge from the instrument cluster on many of its models and replacing it with an IDIOT light.
