Are there any other types of foils you guys use? I know I have used hair salon foil because its gold and its tough to find gold foil. The problem is that you have to glue it on and I haven't really found a perfect glue to use...how about you?

Checkout holographic nail stickers/foil. It comes in many designs, patterns including plain colors like gold, silver and what not. Its very cheap too, i ordered 50 pcs of random designs for only Php120 thats about US$2.00. Size 4cm×20cm. But there are other sizes available. I think its available too on ebay, mine was ordered from Lazada Philippines and Shopee.ph

I would also like to see some experiments with hotstamp...I’ve played with it and had some good results, I think you would easily create an affordable cool tool/System for that

for foil with no sticky side, use spray glue. spray the lure, let it get tacky, then apply the foil. and ditto on the other guy mentioning nail foils. I apply them the same way, with spray glue.

Stamping foil is the way I started out. It’s fast and the look is cool. I eventually looked for other methods to give me a more unique look.

Loved this. Watched it as I was falling asleep and ended up having a dream about going to Lowe’s and searching for the foil. Well I found it no problem today

Mind blown! Though I don't build lures I build scale model cars.. this gives me so many new ideas for what we do. That metal grating pressing looks so much like diamond tuck patterns for interiors which is something that is hard to come by for the cars. This would make it so much easier to create that with the foil tape and paint over it or use flocking material. Also to create nice diamond plating for tool boxes or step guards. Wow very cool my friend! I use the hvac tape a lot in building for certain applications. Another type of foil we use is called Bare Metal Foil. The difference with it is that it is thinner than the hvac tape. We use it a lot for doing chrome trim work on the vehicles. You cut the piece you need and it peels off a large sheet. It's thinner almost like rice paper film and wraps around curving quite nicely. I'm not sure if you would find it useful for texturing but is another type of foil and comes in many types of colors from black chrome to gold and I think they have some multi colored ones as well. This is really cool though I can't wait to try this!

Thanks for the tips on foiling a fishing lure. I thought about using a round pen or pencil for smoothing the foil out. My lure is starting to look more real fish like.

I noticed that the foil adhesive if heated looks like a brownish color like a natural fish. I think putting a clear coat on or adhesive on and letting it dry then heating the foil up will cause this affect. I got some foil from the water heater vent because the foil I had bought says UL 181 b on it. The adhesive on the old foil was exposed to heat. Then I E6000 glued the foil on the fish lure I have carved and been working on at times over the last week. I will post a video of it later. I have a video of a frog lure I made called "leopard frog lure".

If you put the pattern on first then burnish the edges, does it smooth out the pattern? Thanks again for another great instructional video.
@EngineeredAngler4 жыл бұрын
Yes that's a good point, it does tend to smooth out the pattern. The tops and bottoms of fish naturally have less texture so doesn't look unnatural.

Love your videos, I didn’t catch what you used to cover the marble . What did you use ?
where can gold colored foil be purchased that can be applied like hvac tape

Nice video, how can I cover part of lure to paint other color without damage other color ?
@EngineeredAngler4 жыл бұрын
You can use a mid-coat, I spray on a coat of water based clear and dry it with a blow dryer. Then I can use stencils or fabric to paint my patterns.

I just want to say I love your videos it's great to see someone who knows what they are talking about vs just trying to make video after video. But I have a question I noticed in your uv resin videos you had what looked like a big led uv light. Can you tell me the info on that please. I've seen people talk about uv lights that could cure uv resin in seconds and if this is true then your the guy to ask.
@EngineeredAngler4 жыл бұрын
If you're talking about the small black spotlight mounted under my shop window: that is a 10 Watt LED 395nm UV light. It's a cheap one, I baught on amazon. I would shop around there are lots out there. If you're talking about my UV lure chamber, you should check out my videos on the build...that should answer most of your questions. Thank you.

Ok I’m so pissed off right now I dunno if you go back and read the comments but if you do plz help I need it now but I’m sure you won’t see it anytime in the next 30 mnts. Fixing to throw all this crap away, trying to hot stamp lure blanks before painting them. I bought the rubber pads 1/2” thick, holographic foil, new iron & blow dryer, I headed iron up to over 300 degrees even tried putting lure in oven abs even tried blow dryer lure to get it up, everyone makes foiling look so easy but BS, I’ve tried several times. How long do I let iron sit on the rubber? I cleaned lures blanks off W/acetone fingernail remover quick wipe, wearing rubber gloves heat rubber up, lay foil down, then lure blank, put top piece rubber on, roll hands back and forth for 30 seconds or so, only got a tiny piece of foil to stick. What am I doing wrong, is rubber not hot enough? Shit frustrated this was suppose to relate me I love tinkering with fishing lures but this ugghh!!!thanks anyone
@EngineeredAngler2 жыл бұрын
Damn...that does sound frustrating. Unfortunately I don't do hot stamping....sorry bro. My guess would be that the rubber pad is not hot enough. Good luck.

If you mean hot stamp foil transfer...yes I have tried it with an iron used for applying monokote...the stuff you use to cover model airplanes. It worked but getting the stuff around the compound curves is really challenging.

I have not fished in over a year and didn't catch anything just one bite on the two free fishing days. But I have been feeding the fish, unfortunately there are too many Fisher men that have been there or show up shortly after while have been feeding the fish. The last couple of times I fed the fish I saw one or none!🙄 I have seen them keep even 3"-4" inch fish.
