at 22:45 you can see the very problem that I'm having with glide baits: it starts to glide to the side, but then, at the end of the glide, it straightens and sort of tries to start turning to the other side. besides, it often does not even make the side move on a twitch and instead simply moves forward, maybe with a bit of a wobble. I wonder if this can be fixed. good glide baits (such as e.g. buster jerk) run pretty stable and consistently and won't start turning to the other side until you give them a slight twitch with the rod: after making the initial turn they continue moving straight in that direction until the water resistance slows them down to a full stop. then on the next twitch they turn to the other side, and the cycle repeats. that's what I'm trying to achieve with my DIY lures, but it's not as easy as it seems at first.

@EngineeredAngler Жыл бұрын
fabric hinges necessitate building the lure in halves. That means four parts on a two segment lure. It's a lot of work and takes a lot of time. If you like continuous hinges the best thing is to make a mold where you can imbed the fabric and cast the lure around the hinge.

Hello Franco, Great build and paint job! Really enjoyed this video. Sure you saw the flash coming off this paint finish during the water test - really cool. Love the fishing action on “the one that got away”. You are keeping it real. One question, we tend to paint artificial baits that appeal to our eye, but on deep diving lures have you use any paint schemes around the colors that are more visible to fish in low light condition at deeper depths? I think blus are the most visible ant deeper depths. Pattern, scales and lateral lines, is probability important.

Franko that was an absolute beautiful lure. Extremely great job on the paint scheme. Love watching your video's. Here is a question of the week for you. What would you consider to be the optimum angle for a bib in a traditionally made stick bait? I have used 45 degrees. Looking forward to your answer.
@FreedomFishing Жыл бұрын
He has a series called Crankbait Master Class. It's three parts, and may help! I would guess the angle depends on how the lure balances in the water first though. Then as long as the line tie is below the center of drag, a steeper angle will make the lure wake, and every time you go shallower and shallower with the angle of the bib it'll dive deeper and deeper.

Oh man what a fish to lose! Great looking lure, one of the best paint jobs yet I reckon. Gonna have to make one myself. Can I ask why the premade hinge eye, rather than just your own twist eye? Also you mentioned it diving a little more than you wanted - is that down to the front end being less bouyant, or a combination of things including profile etc? Love the lure mate. I am finishing off a wooden version of your latest lipless crank tomorrow, tested it and it swims well. Thanks again Franco, keep up the top work 👍 👏

For single hinges the thicker pre-made eyes gives a tighter fit. The head down posture is the problem, I put a bit too much weight in the head.

I was actually going to ask a few weeks ago about making a glide bait or a glide bait master class. I was trying to make one and was having trouble finding details on the correct design characteristics. It came out ok, even though i needed to take it apart several times.

Not taking into consideration the type of fish you're after or the conditions you'll be fishing in...I would use minimum 20lb braid with a 4000 series reel and keep my lures lighter than 2 oz. But you might want to talk to some local anglers. Good luck.

Good afternoon, I am your follower and a great admirer of your work on KZbin and I believe that only you can solve my problem. I make artificial lures with a propeller for fishing in the Amazon rivers of the great Tucunarés Açus. The bait that is very successful here in Brazil is the High Roller (14cm), however, some baits that I produce tend to come out on the side, when performing the work with a vigorous touch with the tip of a rod, they pull to the side, not swimming from straight shape towards the fisherman, which would be correct, with each vigorous touch, they come out a little to the side. I've already looked for information on the internet and I haven't found a satisfactory solution that could solve the problem. Therefore, I believe that you would be the only person with the necessary knowledge to approach this topic and all its variables that lead to this recurring problem and, as a natural consequence, a quality bait! Grateful for the attention!
@EngineeredAngler Жыл бұрын
There are a few possible contributing factors. First, if you are hand shaping the lure you could create an asymmetric shap that would not track straight. Second, if the propeller does not spin freely it will make the lure to drift to one side. Third, if the shape is too narrow at the nose it can cause too much turbulence. It could be a combination of these factors. Send me some photos... EngineeredAngler@gmail.com
@camilofishing7332 Жыл бұрын
@@EngineeredAngler Good afternoon my friend! The molding I make is on a wooden lathe, the propeller rotates freely, I made a template with the perforation of the studs which are perfectly aligned, I use two claws on the belly. The format of the bait I am producing is with the head thicker than the tail.
