Hi madam can we use 40 waat flourscent choke for 18 watts tube? Please rply madam

I would not advise that. Ask yourself this question, if 40W choke could have worked well with 18 W tube then why the maker would sell two different wattage chokes? For a standard flourescent tube light when we apply 220V AC (in India) , about half of that voltage is dropped across the choke and tubelight has a fixed voltage across it(about 105 to 110V probably). The rest of voltage drops across the choke and here, the impedance of choke decides the current in tubelight. If 40W choke has a lower impedance than what 18W choke offers then when 40W choke is used on 18watt tube, the current will be more than what 18 W choke permits. If this increased current exceeds the limit of 18W tube then it will blow. If the impedances of two chokes is somewhat similar then this may work

@@easyengineering4429 excellent madam thnku very much for clarifying doubt. One more query please mam. How to check the flourscent choke as the output is 20 watt or 40 waat!! I mean how to check the wattage in the choke? Madam please rply
