These are some highlights from my enjoyable weekend stream of the brand new city builder Dorfromantik! Honestly I could play this for hours and hours (if I was good enough), as someone who regularly plays Carcassonne, I was super impressed with this game's unique take on the city builder strategy cross over. The hand drawn cardboard cutout art style is spot on too. This time I create the most impressive of forests as I battle for a high score in Dorfromantik!
If you enjoy the video please give it a like and subscribe to the Real Civil Engineer channel for notifications when I post future videos! Thanks!!

About Dorfromantik:
Dorfromantik is a relaxing building strategy and puzzle game in which you place tiles to create ever-growing, idyllic village landscapes. With Dorfromantik, you can immerse yourself in a quiet, peaceful world at any time and take a break from everyday life. At the same time, Dorfromantik offers a challenge for those who are looking for one: To beat the highscore, you need to carefully plan and strategically place your tiles.
In Dorfromantik you start with a stack of procedurally generated tiles. One after the other, you draw the top tile of the stack, place it on one available slot and rotate for the best fit. Thereby groups and combinations of landscapes are formed, such as forests, villages or water bodies, and you are rewarded with points depending on how well the tile fits.
On some tiles you will also encounter special objects that give you a quest: For example, the windmill wants to border 6 grain fields, the locomotive wants to be connected to 10 tracks or the deer wants to inhabit a forest with at least 50 trees. Fulfill these quests to get more tiles to continue the expansion of your landscape. The game ends when the tile stack is used up.
As you expand the landscape, you can advance into new, colorful biomes and discover pre-placed game objects that give you long-term tasks. Through these tasks you can unlock new tiles, new biomes and new quests.
What Dorfromantik offers
Building endless and beautiful landscapes
Unique mix of strategy and puzzle mechanics
Relaxing and calming gameplay
Idyllic village scenery
Strategic placement to beat the highscore
High replay value - every session is different
Many unlockable tiles and biomes
Original Artstyle with handpainted boardgame feel
What Dorfromantik does not offer
4X Strategy
Trading
Resource Management
Combat & Violence
Multiplayer
Dorfromantik was developed by four game design students from Berlin. Together we have founded Toukana Interactive and want to develop many more small, original and high-quality indie games in the future.
We are happy about constructive feedback of all kinds, so feel free to contact us! We will do our best to respond to messages quickly and fix any problems that may arise. :)

"Dorfromantik" is one of those German words that have a deeper meaning. It's more of a feeling, the feeling of a small village, which is like the opposite of the pressure you could feel when growing up in a big city. Greetings from fellow German Engineer :D

Dorf = village (cognate with English "thorp(e)" and Dutch "dorp"; German consonant shift p -> f, also th -> d along with Dutch) Romantik = romanticism (or romance; in this context it's the bliss you feel in/of an idyl(l) or paradise)

Note: Quests with triangles on their bubbles mean you have to close off the area to get additional tiles.
@BrickZero

the triangle is more of a grater than sign meaning that the quest requires exactly that many items to be added. once you meet that goal you can then expand on it for other quests.

Actually those quests leave a flag in the area when completed that disappears to give an extra 5 tiles if the area is closed off
@laurencefraser
@laurencefraser 3 жыл бұрын
To clarify: the quest completes as usual, and when it does, the triangle causes a flag to be added to the area. If you then close off the area, you will get Additional points (and probably tiles. Can't quite recall) over and above the normal quest reward.

Maybe you've figured these things out but challenges count items on a tile, so that field was actually +2 not +1. Forests count trees and towns count houses. The flags are from changes that have the triangle in the corner. The flag are an additional challenge where you have to completely close off that section (field/forest/town) and the highlighted edges are what's left to be closed. And
the highlighted tiles in the middle of nowhere are challenge tiles that reward you with the kinds of challenges you see in the top right corner of your screen.
So I picked this game up after your last vid and I have been having a tone of fun. Some things I learned, if you haven't figured them out already is that every time you get a 'perfect' tile, when every edge is matched to it's adjacent tile, then you get an extra tile added to your stack. Some challenges create those flags and are indicated by the little triangle on the challenge bubble. Then you fully enclose an area with a flag then you get extra score and more tiles. So you want to try and make lots of perfect tiles and close areas with flags whenever possible. Thanks for showing this game to me, keep up the great content!

Flags indicate that this area wants to be 'cut off', the coloured edges tell you where it's 'open' - it gives you points and some tiles, it's good for when you are running out of hexagons but have open flagged areas you can close quickly. It's generally a good idea to keep 2 to 3 open sides so you can act quickly if you need to.
@juliangluecklich28
@juliangluecklich28 3 жыл бұрын
if you match each side of a Hexagon with the element that is on it (house to house, field to field, etc) you get a perfect score. each perfect also gives you a additional tile. just saying that way you can reach way longer games :)

The flag is a quest to close of a field or town, so that nothing can be added to it and also gives you more tiles. Basically, if you don't have quest, look for flags and if you don't have flags try to make your existing stuff more accesable, this is my current strategy, which usually gives me 9000-11000 score
