I am using TVS star city 2012 model 110 cc. I bought it as 2nd bike. It ran 20000 km when I bought. At that time I didn't know about bikes that much. So I went to mechanics for it's maintenance. Mechanics changed 300 rupees 20w40 grade oil for my bike. After that I faced lots of engine issues like engine overheat, bike turned off automatically, and it didn't start for long time. I was really frustrated. I thought I bought a faculty bike. I am poor even though I spent lots of money for bike's maintenance. But the results didn't give me happiness. After 30000 km, I tried Motul 7100 20w50 oil. Then the bike ran smoothly. I learnt that my bike is not a faulty machine, actually the Mechanics recommended engine oil's performance was really poor. After that I learnt how to maintain a bike, and I am doing my bike's maintenance by myself. Because it didn't stopped again due to bike's problem. I am cleaning my bike regularly, and lubricating moving parts including chain. It is running smoothly. I used it for long drives many times, but I was confident that my bike was not going to stop due to engine problem. I have travelled maximum 500 km in a single day. My bike ran 75000 km till today. I recommend that we need to do our own research for our bikes.

Well said bro, you are absolutely right. We need to maintain our own bikes according to our riding! Question, what type of chain lube n cleaner do you use? I too own a tvs Radeon bs6 and I started to use motul 5100 10w40, it's smooth as butter.

@@leoncj1 I use kerosene for chain cleaning and coconut hair oil for chain lubrication. I didn't find any problem and it is cost effective for me.

I change oil and filter on both my suv and my jeep wrangler jk. I use Castrol 5w-20 fully synthetic and k&n filter. Mechanics use cheap oil and filter.

I have correction , choosing oil is depends on how much RPM we drive regularly and it is not dependent on how much speed we drive...! For example, Pulsar 200 NS has 10,500 rpm peak of which who frequently throttle above 8000 RPM in all gears(1,2,3,4,5&6) means, he should get Fully synthetic Oil & at 5000-6000 RPM he drives means he should go with semi synthetic oil. This applies further. RPM Plays major role here..!!! Reason here: When Semi-Synthetic oil runs at 8000 RPM Continuously for 15 min, Then it slowly reduces its viscous reaction and breaks its compound chain. Which results to sticky oil which burns along with fuel..! Which affects performance also...! It is rare in motorcycle but for four wheeler it is common due to lot of frictional components it has.. Thank you hope it will be useful

This will also go into the ground and pollute ground water. So it's not safe to dump into sewage or on the ground.
