This turned out amazing and it's such a nice fitted sweater. Also, I think machine knitted garments still count as handmade just not hand knit bc they're machine knit, but you're still making it by hand. That also gives the garment workers who made store-sold sweaters the power they deserve too because they are hand making the sweaters they create. At the very least, they are sewing the seams to put the garment together, if not also supervising or operating the knitting machine in some way.

What a lovely garment you ended up with. I've been enjoying following you journey with your unraveler and knitting machine. I don't know if it is just me but your into seems to be very fast, don't know if you were just speaking faster than "normal" or if something got speed up, I had to check to make sure that I wasn't on 1.25 speed. Just wanted to let you know, but I enjoyed the video regardless.

I tried slowing it down to 0.75 and it was close to her usual speech speed! I think something went wrong during editing indeed! (Still a lovely video though!)

Hello, I usually set the sleeves into the armholes first, then sides, and the sleeves in one go..also while knitting I place small length of contract yarn on the beginning and end of every 20 rows so when it's off the machine it correspondents beautifully. Ps. I use claw weights only after the ribbing on my brother..Well done . Its hand crafted and I ❤ the rich colour

What a wonderful sweater! By the way, thank you for showing us the entire process, I used to believe that a knitting machine works like a coffeemaker, you press a button and the desired size sweater comes out 😅 and turns out it's a whole process, honestly I respect much more the "industrial" pieces my h more because I know probably someone had to manage the machines, as a hand knitter I feel I have much more control over the process than if I was operating a knitting machine

I'm loving this whole series! Your creations are so beautiful. I consider machine knitting similar to using a weaving loom. It's handmade. You're just using a device that has to be hand manipulated in order to make a creation. If stuff made in a weaving loom are considered handmade, so are things made in a knitting machine. I wish I had room or time for a knitting machine. But I'll stick with hand knitting for now 😉.

Beautiful ! Can you tell us how did your learn to use your knitting machine ? I haven't watched all of your videos yet, maybe you allready talked about that. My grand mother has one, but I don't know how it works and she can't tell me as she is ill with alzheimer's.... I would love to learn and feel connected with her again knitting on the same machine she one loved and used... Thanks for your interesting videos ! Pets for Nutella cause she's such a good girl !

I've heard "sewing up" on the machine called "linking" ... at least in industry, where it's done not on the CNC knitting machines, but on special dedicated "linking machines".

I would think that by machine you must manually operate is still handmade, just not hand-knitted. Some people may disagree of course but the fact that it's not an automatic machine matters. Thanks, I love your channel

That jumper is amazing! Just out of interest what weight would you say that yarn is? It looks so much finer than the 4 ply that I’m using on my machine at the moment, would love to make something finer.

Amazing!! I think machine knitting is handmade but not handknit. It still requires a lot of effort and knowledge on your part as you make it, but you are not knitting each stitch by hand, which would take way longer, so I think a distinction is helpful.

That sweater came out beautiful! Love the color and how fine the yarn is. The machine knitting makes the texture so even. I love that you can do most of the seaming on the machine too, that's really nifty.

Regarding whether knitting with a machine is considered "handknit" or not... I for myself wouldn't consider machine knit things "handknit" or handmade (in the way I associate stuff with the term handmade/handknit) although you are using your hands, but that's for me personally. Your knitting machine really fascinates me and it looks all very cool and amazing in the end!

Amazing sweater! I love watching your machine knitting videos, as a fellow machine knitter. In terms of sizing, do you use the original pattern measurements and adjust to fit you? I ask because I've had a lot of difficulty getting machine knit items to fit (similar to your flat sock knitting issues a while back!). Also at 8:07 I noticed you're using a normal transfer needle to transfer from ribber to main bed, but did you know there is a needle transfer tool that makes this way easier? 10/10 would recommend!

You might have explained this in another video about your knitting machine and I've missed it, but why do you create such a large extension with waste yarn to keep the stitches alive? Wouldn't e.g. 5 rows be enough? I guess I don't really understand how this works 😅

Hi from the uk, i used to own a vintage brother knitting machine from the 1980s, but found it too stressful to use Its a shame because did knit a few very nice jumpers and hats on it. As it was well used before i owned, it needed frequent maintenence and the frustrations bending needles and damage to the cast on comb. So i sent it to the scrap metal man, i still wish id have kept it as like you say it makes knitting a lot quicker at fine gauges

It doesn't look like you use every peg when making a sweater. Is it possible for you to swap some pegs at the very end that are straight with the pegs that are bent as a quick fix to hold you over until your able to repair or replace the bent pegs? Just a thought. 😊

Your sweater looks amazing. I came across a singer linking machine for 100$ on marketplace. My understanding of the linker attachment is that it can be fiddlely. The linker machine so easy to use. As a side note, machine knitting is still handmade just like a sewing machine is still handmade. People are quick to judge, but you only get 1 body and repetitive stress injuries are debilitating. The amount of knitting you do is amazing but it can take a toll on your body and you need to take care of yourself first and foremost before you allow others to judge. Moderation is key!
