good explanations and animation. My only suggestion is that I would have called slabs and beams as "flexural" members instead of tension members.
@gregwarner37534 жыл бұрын
For general use 1 cement, 3 sand, 5 stone mixed dry and then as little water as possible to make the concrete loose enough to place. For specialty uses consult an engineer.

It would be beneficial for us (Common people) ,if you discribe the different grades of cement used for 1.footing 2. Caulamns 3.Roof and brick work .
@oportillo025 жыл бұрын
Oh! By common use (houses) the rank of concrete in foundation, columns, and beams is f'c= 210-250 kg/cm2, slabs, and roofs -+ f'c= 150kg/cm2

You've mentioned beam and slab are tensile member but I think they are flexural member. Can you give some explanation over here sir?
@littlethoughts96465 жыл бұрын
If we use less grade of concrete for slab and beams, the chances of failure will be high. Because slab and beams are tensile members and concrete is weak in tension. So the minimum grade concrete for slabs and beams are M20 and M25 respectively.
@perumalpandian52975 жыл бұрын
Sir you explained very general in nature. In technically speaking what based we should recommend the grade of concrete. Any exact methodology to calculate the Grade of concrete for different type of building

Thanks a lot for the basics of concrete. How does concrete strength varies depends on cement grade (43 / 53 / 63)? I'm an electrical / electronics engineer. But love to understand the Civil engineering.
@PintuDas195 жыл бұрын
Sir I can not completely answer your question but 43 and 53 grades OPC are only used nowadays whereas 33 is obsolete. And sorry 63 grade is not available its 33,43&53 grades only. And use higher the grade higher the strength. These are the strength of cement and not related to concrete. 33grade cement means its strength is 33 n/mm2. As per my experience important structures are built using 53 grade whereas ordinary cement available in market are of 43 grade mostly

You said ‘Concrete grade of foundations & columns will be more than slabs and beams’ - For a G+3 residence if you have slabs/beams with M20 grade and columns with M25 grade with a foundation PCC bed of M7.5 grade, does it make sense? I see that the foundation PCC bed has this grade as a standard. Isn’t M7.5 less strength compared to M20 or M25? I believe the foundation had M20 RMC poured in. Can you clarify?

What does the mix proportion actually means?? As for example 1:2:4 Where 1 part is of cement 2 is for sand and 4 is for aggregate. My question is Does 1 part of cement means 1 bag of cement or 1 kg of cement?? And like wise for sand and aggregate.. Please anyone who is reading the comments please do clarify my doubts..
