In the representative problem 2/9 how can pt be positive? as we can see from the graph p is not in the direction of t rather it makes 22.6 degree angle with positive x-axis and passes through third quadrant. So by what mechanism can it be positive?

Why isn't pt on the negative since its on the negative x axis and pn is heading downwards so shouldn't it also ne negative?
