Must be a couple of gallons in the water jacket alone. I think you got lucky with those liners, all the corrosion stayed away from the sealing surfaces. Thanks for the update.

Yes actually the sealing surfaces where very goo from the liner side, thought from the engine side, the bottom was not so good. I applied gasket sealer to all surfaces to make sure I have water tight fitt.

Yes hope fully. One problem that is concerning me. This engine is a dry sump engine. The oil relief valve will be connected to the oil tank. Its oil pump is double. A scavenge pump and a pressure pump. I am going to by pass one of them and connected as an ordinary engine but that will make it full pressure with out it being regulated!

@@enginelover1 I have not personally worked on a dry sump engine, but am wondering why you would change it? Also wondering why it was dry sumo in the first place, normally something you would associate with an aeroplane or race car engine.

@@BensWorkshop I'm wondering the same, why on earth dry sump it unless the standard JP can't cope with being in a boat and a deeper sump would make an already tall engine even taller.

@@enginelover1 can you not route the relief back to the sump? Would be interesting to see the oil system components and an explanation why they went dry sump and why you are changing it.

Very similar liner setup as the 5 1/2 inch bore L3-L3B Gardner series of engines use. We lap each liner to its respective seats in the block and before installing a liner it gets painted including the o-ring grooves and the underside of the lip. This helps with corrosion and sealing and the installation of the liner, each one is just a drop in or at the most a push in fit. Been working for is for over 40 years without a single issue.

Got a 6LW and 6LXB. Never worked on any L3. I prefer Gardner then this. Gardner the same size as this would be a 5lw or 4lw. This engine is so huge considering its HP and cylinders. Thanks for choosing to comment on my video. Cheers

Gardner is definately top of the list. Nothing really comes close. Putting a 6LXB together right now, such a good engine. 6L3B is my favourite model. One of my brothers prefers LW's and the other likes 5L3's. Keep up the great work.

When tried with the copper hammer I found out it was hard to press down and saw the flywheel just there. Thought Id give it a go. Yes sure its less then 2 weeks. This time I don't want to miss you my friend. I really want to meet you there if you are visiting it? Thanks for your comment.
