Hello mate. Did you ever do a video of refitting and timing the mag on your Crossley 1040?? 😊
@enginelover12 күн бұрын
Hi Mate. I remember that mine was fare out and could not get the gear off the mag. The flywheel had no spark mark on it and had to make my own of 14 degres before TDC. I will do a video when I restore my 1030 or 1050.

Yep I have to say that it would have not run with everybody in the helm haha. I needed skills and muscle strength to not give up on her and understand whats happening inside. It is in "Home" (as in safe and preserved under my owner ship) but will have to stay out side for a long time. Thanks for watching a comment. It was nice reading a comment from you. Cheers

Always impressive how a neglected old engine can, with a little bit of care and attention, run again with relatively little effort. Also amazing how much better it ran after you'd left it running for an hour. Great work as always Joseph.

well done :) if its 1800rpm most probably it was powering a 60hz genset

I doubt that. I know these engines very well. If it had a geny application it would have had a cast cowling to accommodate a flanged bell housing. This engine cam from a pump room. Most probably it came to Malta as 2nd hand. These engine where made for 100 of uses its hard to know exactly. Thanks for watching hope you liked the drama.

Nice engine I have a few of these myself. I'm sure you're aware that these heads are from a model 5 and designed for 90 degree airflow compared to the 55. Kudos for getting it running again, do you know how to date them? If not I can help you with it if you give me the serial number. And I've been looking for that louvered airfilter, if you want to trade it for a NOS plain unit I'd be delighted and pay you 50 pounds in exchange. Regards, Erik.
@enginelover12 ай бұрын
@Jan-ErikØiseth Hi, very much thank for watching. From where I bought this engine they told me, that bought new heads for it. They have the same flow shape in the combustion chamber. I think tay one of them should be a mirror image to the other??? No I dont know hkt to date Japs. I Have another 55 too. Regarding the air filter I dont think I will sell it. I am from Malta and that makes it even hard to get parts over here. I appreciate you sharing your knowledge with me.
