Now that´s a truly pro demo of the product. I just had to get one of these in a recent trip to Germany. Amazing tone!! Expensive but this is NOT just a mini lunch box amp like tubemeister18 or OrangeTerror. It´s in another level. It really feels like a full sized/powered amp.

Just bought one today. I'm giving up a Gigmaster 30 and an Orange Dark Terror for this. Compared it to a mesa dual and it still won the race. Amazing head!! I run it into 2 Celestion Greenbacks with a floorboard of analogs. Just sickness...

Toby K. It's pretty cool that we finally get all these options. Never really needed even 50W amps, very happy that I could finally crank an amp without destroying the world with loudness. Now if Engl made a 20W version of the Savage-series I'd be even happier...

if i like the palm mute structure of an amp, i can almost be certain that i'm going to like the lead tone as well. from chords and chugs i can deduce way more of the characteristics of an amp than from single note playing, the way multiple strings sound together and palm mutes respond tells me way more about the gain structure than a solo where each note sounds for a split second. a review needs both!

Just played this in Guitar Center and holy hell this thing kicks ass. Played through a 2-12 "Pro" cab (meaning it has V30s) and it's just killer. Now I gotta figure out how to sell a ton of gear so I can afford it.

I can still not get over the fact that the thing about ENGLs is how amazing they are at letting the guitar sound like itself. If an ENGL could talk and promote itself it would say "Ok, here's how THAT guitar is supposed to sound clean. And this is how THIS guitar is supposed to sound with some gain. And this is how THIS OTHER GUITAR wants to sound with an awesome metal sound." The best amps out there.

it's built in germany, and the preamp section is just as complex as the powerballs... the only thing making it lower wattage is the poweramp section's transformers and tubes, and that's not necessarily cheaper to make if it's el84, but instead you've got a powersoak in there.

Actually it's best to do it both in lower standard tunings, in my honest opinion. Also, chord definitions are important too. To me, a good tone is one that gives chords clarity and has a wide range of room, both high and low ends.

sounds a bit more expensive that I expected! It's almost at the same price as the Screamer and very close to the EVH III Mini 50w (which is a kickass amp too). Still cheaper than the Mesa Mini but still I was expecting something between 600-700 eur. Although I tried finding it on musik-produktiv and didn't find it.. perhaps it was taken out because it wasn't final or something..

Well prices in the EU compared to the US are a bit over the top tbh.. almost 1.3K euro for a mini rectifier = not worth it imo. Might as well buy a used dual rectifier then for about 1.5K.. but my guess it is below 1K atleast this one.

I always use Humbuckers. Unless I'm going blind I think it's still funny that the test has no Bridge Single Coil pickup in the test. Personally I don't care but it is a review.

I've been testing this one together the Rockmaster Head - went for the Rockmaster because it sounds a bit warmer and 'wider' so to speak, did like the more focussed feel of the Ironball though. not sure if I made the right choice still... Just one question to you guys from ENGL: is there a gigbag or case available for the Rockmaster head? Couldn't find anything online.

"A little bit more" (reverb): he smiles kinda "oh man that sounds great!". [I love this amp but I think the mini rectifier sounds better]
