I've just recently watched the game... seen it when i was teenager just before euro96 and just recently watched it closely...geoff hurst and bobby Moore get the plaudits but for me Alan ball had an absolute monster of a game... I've never seen a player play at that pace for that long on such a heavy pitch...he was constantly driving England on... even when England were winning both times they didn't keep the ball and waste time they attacked...franz beckenbauer and bobby were right... England were the better team....you can't fake the world cup the cream always rises to the top... always

Interesting in that Bobby was given the job of shadowing Beckenborough and it worked . Yet in 1970 he had the same job and England raced into a 2-0 guarterfinal game . He was then substituted to save him for the semis At this point the “ kaiser “ took over and Germany won 3-2 The worst decision Ramsay made but still the best ever Manager .

Brilliant. We've had many great teams since but the rub of the green started to go against us from the 1980s onwards I felt but it looks to be changing under the current manager fingers crossed.

- mr Charlton how do you feel when you see today Fred and McTominay playing along to Manchester United? - oh, amazing, both are excellent players. I wish I could have had their potential to so good. the supporters truly love them. - manchester united was better within Van der Sar, Vidic and Ferdinand or is far better today? - of course today. our deffensive system is a huge stronghold, no one can surpass.
