I would argue that he has to underperform first. All jokes aside, he is the most successful English manager we’ve ever had. Certainly achieved more in my lifetime than anyone else, and I’m in my 30s. We have to recognise that he’s brought us a long way. Even if it is time to perhaps say goodbye after these Euros. Gareth knows things have gone stale. But that doesn’t take away from his achievements and his proven abilities within the managerial game. It just begs the question where he goes next. I thought the United job was made for him, and I still think that he will land that job when Ten Hag balls it up again.

We don't need to change much in terms of players. Just get back to basics, have an organised press, and if we are going to be pinned deep we need to have a way out on the counter... Kane Foden Gordon - Rice - Bellingham - Saka Gomez/Shaw - Guehi - Stones - Walker Pickford Nobody can tell me that team can't dominate the ball, can't press high off the ball, can't defend deep when needed and can't be unbelievable on the counter attack. The bench is absolutely stacked for any scenario as well.

I would put Gordon between the posts (Gordon Banks, that is), in front of him Kyle Walker, Bobby Moore, Rio Ferdinand and Stuart Pearce. Pearce will have licence to attack on his left flank but also to work as a center half when Kyle or Bobby is advancing. In midfield: Gazza, Declan and Jude. Slightly ahead of this great trio I would argue either to play Bobby Charlton or Harry Kane. Right and left attackers would be Kevin Keegan and Alan Shearer. That would be a great team! I think it might be good idea to rest Bellingham and Kane, both have looked tired and it's good idea to improve the structure of the team. Use those in the squad that need some game time and that would help sharpen up our back up-players and give us more tangible options. It's time Southgate actually used Wharton, Palmer, Gordon, Gomez and Watkins. Make an effort to fix these glaring selection errors, it's not that difficult, Gomez is the only one who can play at left back (Trippier should not be used there, as all our problems stem from him refusing to use his left foot).

Watched Kane at Bayern all year, running about (not very fast, he's Harry Kane) but actually covering ground, until his injury. The man is obviously not over his back problem. Flat footed and mostly stationary. Still good enough to score, but no way competitive without the ball. Needs to be brought on second half until he's properly mobile.
