I think if we are looking to progress then Switzerland will need to feel that we have deserved to. It is no good seeing your team mates panic on the pitch. Be ready for the match. Be prepared to move and make angles for your team mate to open up space for a pass. Don’t wait for somebody else to move. Get up and get back. Don’t crowd the attacking six yard box. Be patient the chance will arrive when there is space for the ball to fall into. But you should work off the ball to find space whether you move or take up a good position and be patient out wide or in the attacking zones.

Based upon England's performances, it doesn't look like they practice their passing style, positioning, press or movement off the ball. To me, it looks like pure instinct and fear reactions, not intelligent and practiced responses to external stimuli. They have five gears, but never get into second gear. In fact, there's not enough passion, energy and urgency. If anything, they're too calm and relaxed. Southgate has one plan and one team -- he's adverse to changing the system or changing the players, this behaviour is based upon fear.

How about playing Trent at right back and stop being a coward . Southgate talks about being brave and is so defensive its ridiculous considering the talent in forward areas . Trent can do from right back what Southgate wanted him to do from midfield! Makes no sense when you can play a midfielder in midfield and still have Trent doing his thing putting pin point 30 yd passes on strikers heads ,feet and its not rocket science for Rice or whoever to cover when Trent goes forward. Have some balls and play him in his position instead of experimenting in a tournament ffs and then throwing the lad under the bus when it doesn't work .
