I’m not surprised that the outfield is brown grass, we had a really hot summer that year. Lasted a long time as well, from May until the end of September I would say.

@@ajs41 how strange. I remember that summer being one of the hottest I’d experienced. The New Zealand test were at the start of the summer though weren’t they?? Probably explains it.

D M Mordecai Sir you have done a great job to upload a very rare to rare video can we expect that you will upload a veteran series played in 1993 Ind vs South Africa in which Roger binny madam Lal played & we would like to see veteran cricket world cup played in 1996. Not sure I’ve ever seen so many terrible deliveries in one day, judging by the highlights only Fraser and Hemmings remotely on target. Malcolm was hopeless, Williams and Gooch didn’t make much impression, while Atherton shouldn’t have been bowling in any first class game. In fact both sides short of class bowlers, plenty of good batters.

Atherton quit bowling at 23 due to his back injury with over 100 first class wickets and in fact finished top of the Lancashire bowling average for this 1990 season. He was decent at county level but bowled far too many full tosses and long-hops for Test level.
