His highest Test score, Mohinder Amarnath carves up the Aussies with 138 at the SCG during the third Test of the 1985-1986 series. His partnership of 224 with Sunil Gavaskar wore down the home side as the Indians posted 4/600.

Great upload CA. This is one of the only few videos available of Jimmy. For me, he is an all time great and was my favorite cricketer in 80s. This was the innings where top 3 of India all scored centuries- SMG, KS and Jimmy. KS struck well too and runs came very fast- unlike Indian style in those days slow and steady.

I still remember his knock of 80 runs against west Indies in 1976 chasing a target of mighty 406 runs, he was the backbone of the innings to help Gavaskar and Viswanadh to play carefree. Unfortunately he was the most underrated player.

@@bcs455 King Kohli wouldn't be able to deal with bowlers who used their brains to think batsmen out, particularly in their backyards. Heck even on Indian pitches Kapil Dev would make a mockery out of him with his signature outswingers, imagine Kohli's fate facing Marshall/Garner/Ambrose/Holding/Roberts/Walsh at Bridgetown or Kingston(of the 1980s and 90s) or against Lillee/McGrath/McDermott/Hughes at Brisbane or Perth or even a peak Ian Botham at Old Trafford/The Oval.

Amarnath was a league above players that had the same numbers as he did ,he performed against the best bowlers and didn’t stat pad to look good ,a cricketer that truly cared more about his performance in the game than in his numbers ,played really well outside of India when his teammates were clueless ,Gavaskar was a run machine ,but when it comes to playing against the best ,Amarnath was the guy you wanted in your side ,his numbers were better against better opponents and he underperformed against weak teams ,also most of his performances came when his team was in a terrible position and this was a very rare hundred when he actually performed when the team was already in a comfortable position ,Amarnath truly is one of Indian’s greatest abd I will rank him above vengsarar and Azhar who peredominatly performed at home
