In 1296, John de Warenne, 6th Earl of Surrey, defeated John Comyn, Earl of Buchan in the Battle of Dunbar. King John Balliol surrendered to King Edward I of England at Brechin on 10 July, and the Scottish landholders were made to acknowledge Edward's overlordship. In 1297, Moray initiated a revolt in northern Scotland and by the late summer, controlled Urquhart, Inverness, Elgin, Banff and Aberdeen. Wallace joined Moray in September near Dundee, and they marched to Stirling. Stirling, in the words of Stuart Reid, was "traditionally regarded as the key to Scotland." Meanwhile, Surrey had joined Cressingham in July and both had arrived at Stirling by 9 September 1297. By then, Moray and Wallace had already occupied Abbey Craig.

When Braveheart was being filmed, a local man asked Mel Gibson why the battle was being filmed on an open field and not on a bridge like the real battle. Gibson replied: "It got in the way." The local responded with: "Aye, that’s what the English found too."

Stirling Bridge is quite quite a famous battle, especially given his badly mauled the English were. It was certainly a wake up call and sure gave the Scots their reputation as to be reckoned with.

Don't use late period units. I mean, they are listed as "high" in the mod, but they are actually late medieval. Early units would be better.

@@cinematicbattles559 I'll answer. There are so many! Do you mean any battle from any time? Well, how about Leipzig,1813, Napoleon vs., well, everybody else in Europe. 2nd Bull Run, 1862. Golan Heights, 1973, the 2nd largest tank battle in history, between Israel and Syria. I could be wrong, but I feel those 3, as well as some others, don't get mentioned as much, as opposed to, say, D-Day, Gettysburg, Hastings, you get the picture. But hey, great work. Keep em' coming!
