First time ever on the eve of a RWC as an Englishman that I am more excited to watch other nations play over England. Honestly couldn't give much of a damn about watching ENG this year. If they play the same style and way in their first game as they did against Fiji, I'll only be watching other nations from that point on.

They’ve clearly identified the need to communicate with fans the need for support. But is it too late? I don’t doubt the players are working hard but there seems to be a system issues likely to be upstairs with the RFU and the coaching set up.
@thewomble1509 Жыл бұрын
They take one step forward and ten back. For example a number of England fans received timed e mails after the Fiji game. The e mails were offering merchandise discounts to "celebrate England's victory over Fiji". You really couldn't make up the shit show that is the RFU.
@phalanx-it Жыл бұрын
Well the RFU's CEO had a 55% pay rise, taking his remuneration to £668,000 per anum, and as he's regarded as a marketing genius (not sure who by...) I've no doubt he'll have inspirational words and ideas about congratulating Courtney on his 100th cap and England's roaring success in 2022/23. Apparently, fans aren't allowed to 'moan' about the teams performance, as it means we're just negative nellies, so looking forward to thumping Argentina, smashing through Wales or Aus and storming to a win in the semi's, then a walk in the park for the final. Every member of RFU's 'executive' board should tender their resignation once we get knocked out, and no golden parachutes. Don't blame the players, they don't pick the coach and the coach is selected by the RFU. In ye olde days, people would tender their resignation when they had done something thoroughly unprofessional and asleep in the trough, and we've lost that somewhere...

Accountability and professionalism is a thing of the past mate. You want someone with authority to admit to their mistakes and change? In the UK? In 2023? You'd have better luck taking Stephen Hawking on a jog 😂
@shonunezekiel Жыл бұрын
I think the performance against Fiji was a small improvement compared to previous weeks - but not much better (discipline and handling were a bit better, and it felt like there was a bit more fluidity in attack)... We just need to stop kicking-away the ball (ie every kick should be contested and only kick for touch when *deep* in our own half)... these warmup games were a lost opportunity to practice attack, we just practiced defence. Lawes deserved a better team performance for his 100th cap... but so will the many England players who will retire after the World Cup... I hope we turn up.
@noflash1603 Жыл бұрын
Honestly thats sounds about the same level of criticism as my old PE teacher and also just as dated I left school 35 years ago( thats how long England have been kicking away possession) its seems that way.i posted that this video was simply sad. Glossing over the absolute train wreck we used to call the rose . If I were to say that this team lacks one thing it would be just that ,a team ,the team!!!15 minutes of vidéo saying preps going fine camps happy etc,(total rubbish after played 3 lost 2)then thats the end of the video by the way,we got beat again. Best moment of this video Imo Blue Monday thats what should be playing for the RFU every day England rugby is broken from top down not the other way around , and Mr Lawes and the players need better deserve better such a shame

A genuine shame we didn't get to hear Borthwick's inspirational words at half time or post-game in the huddle. Massive respect to Lawes, who's been a superb player for England and played well against Fiji. But this team have been totally shafted by the coaching team who just aren't anywhere near the standard required. The RFU's decision to sack Jones and replace him with Borthwick and a bunch of utter novices was idiotic.

Borthwick was meant to take his position just after the World Cup, when he would have had a blank slate at the start of a new World Cup cycle... I have also been deeply unimpressed by what I have seen so far from this set up (agree it feels naïve, like when Stuart Lancaster was coaching England) and the coaching setup should be doing better than they are - but the job has not been taken under the conditions they signed up to so I have to give them a bit of slack.

I almost hoped Fiji would score and win, just to get behind some players who seemed excited and free to play. This reinforces my view, Borthwick is working them hard but in the wrong areas. The players may not be world cup winners but they are better than their results and the coaches are responsible. Ultimately the RFU board is responsible for hiring a sack of potatoes as coach which is a shame as I have heard that Borthwick is a perfectly nice person but I do not think he has the chops for the role.
