I have two lessons prepared to record. I am teaching a friend that is learning English. I like to teach her first then I can see exactly what I need to focus on for the video. Teaching an adult that has never spoken English before has shown me what you might need. Good luck with your studies.

If I know the correct pronunciation of the letters, will I be able to pronounce any word I see, because I suffer from that, and when I... He says, “Write such and such a word that I don’t know how to write.”

Your pronunciation of each letter is key to your success. It is also very important for you to understand how each syllable works because your syllables will tell you if the vowel is the long sound or the short sound. I would say you can pronounce about 75% of words in the English language, if you understand the letters and syllables in a word. The English language definitely have words that are true sight words that you need to learn how to spell and pronounce by memorization. Says is one of those words. Says is an interesting word. Say is the infinitive or you can say the simple tense or base word. “ay” is a vowel team that says the long “a” sound but once you put the suffix “s” onto the word say it changes the sound to the short “e” sound. Sometimes adding a suffix to a word will change the accent or the sound of other letters in that word and that is what is happening to the word says. Says also is in the third person simple present tense and that is when you add the suffix “s” onto the word say. I hope that helps. It’s so much easier to explain in a video. Ha ha ha.🩷

This means that our brother finds it difficult to pronounce ei. When is it pronounced as i and when is it pronounced as e? Do you follow the same rule? What you said? Is it present in the video?

This is what I would recommend with that particular vowel team. “ei” and”ie” are very difficult, especially for those that are just learning English. I would make a list of words that have the vowel team that say the same sound and memorize those words. Those vowel teams are difficult for even English speakers that grew up speaking English. I hope that helps. 🤩

Also, the word “brother”is a true sight word. But if you notice only the vowel changes in “brother” but all of the other letters are the sound that you would expect. “er” is saying the sound that you would expect. I have not completed a video on that yet. The.”o” in brother is making the short “u” sound instead of the short “o” sound. So because you know the sounds of all of the other letters, this word will be much easier for you to read and pronounce, even though it is a true sight word because of the letter “o”. “Brother” is easier to read than to spell.
