I have both an CS and an ACS. HUGE differnece1 My English cocker definitely has mor energy and drive! She needs walking and/or bal throwing a lot every day (our yard is fence in). She doesn't bark at all on her walks, which is a huge plus. I even run with her in the park. She's my "pacer". ;) ACS? Love them but they willbark at every chance, sleep much more and are just more mellow than my ECS. The ACS need a LOT more grooming and brushing than the ECS. At least, the hunting ECS. She has very little feathering, compared to the crazy hair on our ACS! Love them both. I'l alays own cockers.

I had an English Cocker as a kid we lived in Washington State. He was a good family dog but never attached to on family member he’s lived to be 23 years old. The American Cocker in that area seamed to be inter-bread in our area being temperamental, easy to bite people that’s my experience anyway.

The oldest on record is 17.6 years. So if your not exaggerating they should've had it documented. 💡

I have an american cocker and i know that they are the smallest hunting breed. But think there is better breeds for guard dogs.

They’re good alarm dogs, they’ll bark and have a scary growl. But they’re not attack dogs. Far from it.

@@Majorwindy Ha! Yes, bark like crazy and then run and hide behind my leg. I am his guard human, for sure. But let a leaf blow by and he will alert us to that. He sleeps on our bed. Late one night invited guests let themselves in the front door after we went to bed. At the first click of that door lock, that usually friendly dog was barking and in attack mode at our closed bedroom door.
