+English Lessons with Alex (engVid AlexESLvid) I do not understand why we can say that an infinitive can be an adjective. An adjective is a word that gives information about a word to which it coresponds. My dog is beautiful. > How is my dog ? He is beautifull. In the exemple you give in the video: I told you to wait . We can't say > How is you? To wait. I would have called it a complement. > What did I told you to do ? To wait. To be honest, I am french speaker and when I translate it, there is no way it can be called an adjective and I am maybe a bit in trouble becaause I am refering to french but actualy every time I translate an english adjective or adverb or words from other nature, it conresponds. (Or let"s say most of the time because I cannot be sure about that). My french isn't perfect, my english needs improving as well but I thought they were good enough not to face difficulties to understand what is or isn't an adjective... :(

Hi, thanks for all your amazing videos - I think you're one of the best teachers of English online :) One question about this video - "I want to help you". Why wouldn't 'you' be the object? Thanks!!

Thank you so much For your Amazing videos!!They are fantastic!I have a question about this:I don't understand the difference between infinitives "used as subjective and gerunds used as subjective.For example"Running is good for you"and "To run is good gor you".What's the difference?When do i use the one or the other?Thank you so much!
@GennadyKhvorykh8 жыл бұрын
Hi, Alex! Thank you for a nice review of infinitive. Could you comment my way of thinking regarding point 4? "I told you to wait" The question will be "What did I tell you?" It means that infinitive plays the role of object in this sentence.
