Coco's English is pretty trash sometimes though. I'm legit surprised she doesn't know more since she had lived in Georgia. Like her explanations some of the time don't make sense like at all. Like her explaining "mentions" like really its like a 3 word explanation "it means you are talking or making reference to something or someone else." Not hard, she gave this botched scuffed explaination. Either her English is shit, not uncommon for some even 2nd gen asian Americans, or she's faking her laxk of English ability to appear "Japanese" when her Japanese isn't even that good. I've also noticed a lot of these girls put on voices and pretend to be innocent and dumb.

@@cartoonhanks1708 "Pretty trash sometimes" somehow led to "Her English is shit", okay. Live translating words that you subconsciously know into a second language during a livestream is probly harder than you're making it out to be. Could you, with only 5-10 seconds to prepare, explain the proper usage and meaning of "Eaten" compared to "Eat" and "Ate"? Into a different language? Also your last sentence...are you watching vtubers out of spite?

This happens a lot with bilingual people. She's very close to cresting the cusp of understanding many of the memes but is just not quite there. Most of the time it's because of an idiomatic expression or something similar, which are always the hardest aspect of a language to learn. Memes are on a whole new level of idiomatic. She does very well and speaks very well. If she were a tourist somewhere I think I'd have no problem understanding her, since she seems to have a great grasp of conversational English.

@@DoctorScience37 I kinda wanna say I agree since for my first few years in Australia I barely spoke because I was shy. As a result, just being exposed to the language made me pretty proficient at it to the point where I was studying English Literature in high school. The only problem was that I sucked at speaking and would forget words, which still is a bit of a problem to this day. Writing and listening is no problem, but once I actually have to say stuff or tell a story, I turn into a caveman. So actually using it with other people who speak the language, while being exposed to the language is probably the way to go.

As a neurodivergent person, I relate. It's not uncommon for autistic and adhd people to have trouble with humor because our brains work on a very literal level. I'm able to understand subtlety better than others because I'm also analytically minded, but some humor still flies over my head.

@@somefishhere personally I feel that haachama did a reasonable job translating the meanings save for a handful of not often used words or expressions. The issue lay mostly with her lacking the contextual meanings of what the memes were commenting on. That and some tricky double meanings on a few words. Haachama's English abilities are fascinating, she's clearly mastered the skills need to correctly identify the sounds and words written down. The only things she's missing are the actual meanings behind them.

Haachama didn't get the jokes coz there were no jokes to be had here. Seriously these memes are the kinds of thing 10 year olds would say, comedy is born from intelligence not stupidity

Memes are sort of unfair though, it's basically the highest level of English comprehension possible and relies on so much context and background knowledge.

@@jon-unicorn-doxxer I think it might be cause "STOPPU" is one of the pretty popular English phrases that a lot of Japanese understand so that one was pretty easy to understand for a lot

Sometimes Wikipedia is inaccurate because it uses inaccurate, or unreliable sources. For example it might source an article on a News website, but most reporters don't put facts in the articles, they are mostly just the opinion of the writer using minimal facts as evidence for their beliefs. They also cite anonymous sources, or cite a single person in a position of authority who may be lying to preserve their reputation.
