This is one of the best pronunciation lessons I’ve ever come across. Such a simple rule and yet all of us non natives just won’t see it in a lifetime. Thanks for making us notice it.

Great lesson, as always, Keenyn. You rock! I'd like to ask you something, though: is the noun "candidate" an exception to this rule? Are there any other words that are not a verb but are pronounced with the /eit/ sound in the end? I'm not taking into consideration words like late or skate, of course. Also, you use the word "debate" in one of your sentences and, unless I'm mistaken, both the verb _and_ the noun are pronounced with the ending /-ate/. Is that an exception, too? Thank you very much for your attention.
