Hi Antonio, I am glad that my videos have been helping you! I recommend that you keep doing exactly what you have been doing. Watching videos and imitating native speakers. Watch TV shows and films, look up all the new words and expressions and try to imitate the speech of native speakers. You write very well and I think you're on the right track! Best wishes.

@António Alberto Hi Antonio. I learned English by trying to understand song lyrics. Michael Jackson song lyrics to be exact 😬. And since he sang a little slurry it was really, really difficult to jot that down off the radio, 'cause there was no Google then and the CD's with the booklets were expensive 😅. So I had to go through the dictionary to find words that would fit. It was EXHAUSTING to say the least. To this day I can't stand it when people sing the wrong lyrics. Nowadays streaming original shows and movies is HEAVEN! Especially with subtitles. I can also recommend talkshows. Here on KZbin. Ellen for example or all the Late Shows. Just because that's "real talk" you know. Anyways, good luck to you. I'm sure you're doing great 😉.

(it takes money to make money)

Thank you so much lisa for your excellent videos. In Persian we say "Money brings money" for "It takes money to make money." We also say "You get soup for what you pay." for "You get what you pay for." "Money has tongue." and "Money can not buy everything" are another proverbs we use instead of "Money talks." and "Money can't buy everything." respectively.

Lisa, I found your videos a few weeks ago, and I found them the most helpful among all English lessons on KZbin. That's when I decided to check your first lessons. I started watching every single video, even those that I thought I knew about. I was thinking "I know this, but will see anyway, just in case.", and you know what? It turned out I only thought I knew, because you mentioned so many additional things, that nobody taught me, and I could not have realised on my own. Regarding my background, my hearing is good (grown up in a family of musicians) so my hearing is supposed to pick up the pronunciation of such specific sounds or vowels, but this was not always the case. Also, I am coming from Eastern Europe, and your pieces of advise for Russian speakers always get me (I still remember how mind-blown I was, when I heard that Russian speakers pronounce voiced consonants in the end of the word as unvoiced ones: "fife" instead of "five" and so on). To cut a long story short, never skip a video, just because you think you know enough about it.

Hi!Lisa. Unique video.Proverbs are like spices in our foods, without which our language would be bland. It's also important because every proverb has a story to tell as you've mentioned in case of "neither a borrower nor a lender be" in Shakespearean tragic play 'Hamlet'. I'd like to mention 'no money,no honey' and many a little makes a mickle'. Thanks and a huge respect from India.Prashant Mishra

I think I'm on my way to fluency, however, I have some troubles with one kind of skill: listening. I'm able to understand you very well. I can understand English Teachers in general. I can feel the difference between many accents. But, when I try to listen to movies and TV shows and etc. I get frustrated with this.
