@@jibzy73 Ayurveda is the first medical system that manifested a holistic conception integrating the body, mind and spirit. It affirms, among other things, that there is an equivalence and a deep relationship between the universe or macrocosm and the person or microcosm. It conceives life as the union of the body, the senses, the mind and the spirit. Thus, every positive or negative experience at the corporal level has its effect on the mind and vice versa. Its philosophical bases are governed by the Theory of the five elements (ether, air, fire, water and earth) and of the Tridosha (Vata, Pitta and Kapha). The three doshas or humors, are basic forces that interact and are present in the organism of all people. Vata is the expression of the force of movement, Pitta the one of transformation and Kapha that of stability and structure. The dōshic constitution or mind-body, is the manifestation of the predominance of those forces in our being. They represent a map of our areas of strength and also those of weakness that will lead us to deterioration over time. It is important to know that these three energies of Vata, Pitta and Kapha, manifest as forces that act in the organisms of all people. According to the predominant balance in each one of us, we come to the definition of personal body constitution. The knowledge of the body constitution is one of the pillars of Ayurveda that enables us to design and execute possible and intelligent balance plans in the path of the search for longevity together with the best quality of life. People of Vata constitution tend to be active, intelligent, restless and creative. The texture is thin with prominent bones and tendons and dry, cold skin. Sleep and appetite are irregular. In the face of stress, they react with insomnia, fear and anxiety. Those who have a predominance of Pitta show a great intellectual interest and are more executive. The body proportions are intermediate and the extremities are warm. Perspiration is easy and appetite and digestion are strong. They react with anger and irritability in the face of daily imbalances. The Kapha people are methodical and thoughtful, they impress calmly and are little affected by stress. They have a solid body constitution with soft complexion, oily and thick hair. Appetite and digestion are slow and constant with a tendency to important sleep. According to Ayurveda, the appearance of stress is intimately related to the imbalance of the three vital energies of Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Food, physical activity, daily routines and mental harmony techniques are four pillars that help us to tune the internal forces to maintain the balance that is always, by definition, unstable. The Ayurvedic methods traditionally used to harmonize are complex and avoid falling into the current Western simplism that aims to solve all problems with a remedy. They seek, on the contrary, to consider all aspects of daily life. It must also be borne in mind that it is equally important what is done as well as how to do it.
