@CreandoConMusa
@CreandoConMusa 3 жыл бұрын
Hi, Anya! Thank you ❤️ the first thing you have to consider is that the thread you are hiding must be all the time on the back side of the stitches of the previous round, also you have to be pulling often this thread (not too tight or else it is going to deform your work) in order to reduce the possibilities of it accumulating between the stitches. I hope all this is helpfull 😉

@CreandoConMusa
@CreandoConMusa 3 жыл бұрын
Tasia, thank you very much! ❤️... I hope I can explain it right; as you can se thorough the tutorial will be displayed 2 instructions: above a series of rounds according to the section we are going to work and below the instructions of the round I'm currently working on, the instructions above lead you to the same result, just with a tiny difference (those are meant to make the increases on different spots in each round so you don't end up with an hexagonal shape) ... For the part you just mentioned if you go back a few seconds you'll see the R25 looks like if it is repeating too, but it is what I just explained (it corresponds to the section of decreases above and below is each round of decreases explained as I crochet along), I hope it is clear, if it is not, I don't want to confuse you more so if you just finished the R26 and you have the 60 stitches it says, you just did it right, so just go to the next step which is to make another piece just like this one with a different colour.

Hi! If you feel the hands look awkward, you are able to change them the way you think they will look better. It is thought to look similar to the plushies you find on the stores, but maybe you are looking for something with longer arms (more realistic looking) so it's ok if you modify it 😉

How much yarn did you use? Is it more than 100 yards? or less? I have two different kinds of yarn and I don't know which one to use. "We Love Yarn" brand, which is 186 yds (50g), Sports Weight 100% cotton. My other one is: Hobbii's Rainbow brand, 100% cotton, Fingering / Sock Weight, 186 yds (50g). Will one of these work for making this? Edit: I wasn't sure which to use, so I went and bought the recommended yarn you listed to make this. (didn't want to mess up, since I'm still a beginner at this).
@CreandoConMusa
@CreandoConMusa 3 жыл бұрын
Any yarn will work as long as you use the right hook for it (the difference in the end will be the size of your finished piece) I'm not really familiar with the ones you mention, but for the characteristics you described they seem to be a bit thinner than the one I'm using (120 yards, 50 g) even when it is cotton too. Since it is thinner you will need less than I did if you follow this tutorial (it took me about 50 g of each colour, that is almost the whole ball. Hope this is usefull and you come out with a beautiful octopus ❤️

@CreandoConMusa
@CreandoConMusa 3 жыл бұрын
It is a normal thing that when we crochet after each round we start to see this happens. Mine are not totally straight actually; since it is a small piece, to me it wasn't a big deal to see this happened. Still I've seen some people say that working with the front loop only solves the problem (i think this might leave big holes, but you could try how this actually works if you want) one more thing to do (and that actually works at least a little bit better) is to work your single crochet making an "x" instead of a "v" look (for this there are several videos you can consult) it actually works, but I'm not a professional on that kind of stitch (though it looks so beautiful actually) I hope this was helpful ❤️

hello! lovely video, I'm following it right now and creating a cute little octopus for my boyfriend! however, I have a question about the crochet pattern, why are some instructions in brackets and some aren't in a row? so for example, row 5 says sc, inc but then also says [3sc, 1inc] in brackets. what does this mean? does it mean you can choose which way to do it? I'm still new to crochet so I'm very sorry for this question if its hard to understand but I want to try to familiarise myself more with crochet patterns. thank you again! 💕
@CreandoConMusa
@CreandoConMusa 3 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thank you for watching ❤️ one and the most simple is to follow the instructions just as they appear on the lower part of the video (they change Round by Round) and you just will do whatever it says inside the brackets and repeat that the number of times it says on the number outside next to the * on R5 for example: [3sc, inc]*6 (I guess you already know that, but still that would mean you are making: 3 sc, inc, 3 sc, inc, 3 sc, inc, 3 sc, inc, 3sc, inc, 3sc, inc for a total of 30 stitches) working this way you might end up with an hexagon kind of shape since all the inc round by round are placed one over the other. There is a way to avoid your circle getting that hexagonal shape by placing all the inc on different spots round by round, which would lead us to the second way of working shown on the screen on the left side, so, for R5 you would work first 1 sc, then 1 inc and next you will do what is on the brackets 5 times ( 3 sc, inc, 3sc, inc, 3sc, inc, 3sc, inc, 3sc, inc) and finish with 2 sc for a total of 30 stitches. I hope this is clear enough and you finish your beautiful work ❤️ Musa

@CreandoConMusa
@CreandoConMusa 3 жыл бұрын
Because those are meant to make the increase on a different place each round so it doesn't end up like a hexagon; I've put them for more experienced crocheters who have no problem following that. Even when the other instructions end up with a hexagonal shape, by the time you stuff, it happens to be barely noticeable they are easier to follow and are meant for beginners.

@CreandoConMusa
@CreandoConMusa 3 жыл бұрын
Hi, Emma! Make sure you are making the same amount of stitches on both pieces... If the number of stitches is right, then it might be the tension; working tighter in one piece and looser on the other would make the first one smaller 😜

@CreandoConMusa 3 жыл бұрын
Hi, Pauline! If this is your very first amigurumi, I'd recommend a simple and small project before to get used to the stitches needed, I'll leave this one for example, in which i work very slow so you can see what is going on kzbin.info/www/bejne/bn-td5yOZcymmac Still if you already know some basics this octopus might work well and maybe you just need to know the meaning of the abbreviations or some more specific instructions, this is what you'll do: Start with a magic ring in which you'll make 6 single crochet (6 sc), for the second round you'll make 6 increases (inc 6) (an increase is when you make 2 single crochet on the same stitch) on this round you'll end up with a total of 12 stitches. For the 3rd round start with 1 single crochet and next an increase (you'll repeat this instruction 6 times, this way on the end on the round you'll have a total of 18 sc)... You'll keep following the instructions round by round, I hope this is really helpfull for you❤️

I'm usig the 4 hook even when the yarn says 2-3, because that helps me make stitches tightly (avoiding holes between them) still if you want, you can use the hook size the yarn mentions (might end up with a little different results, but works well)

@@CreandoConMusa so does [5sc, 1inc] mean 6 sc in a single stitch? sorry i’m quite confused! also what does the *5 mean?
@CreandoConMusa
@CreandoConMusa 3 жыл бұрын
[5sc, 1 inc] means you are going to crochet 5 single crochet (one per stitch, not all together), then you'll make 1 increase (2 sc on one stitch) anytime you see this: *5 (the number might change) means you are going to repeat everything inside the brackets that number of times

On round 4 I keep ending up with 20 instead of 24? Not sure where I’m messing up
@CreandoConMusa
@CreandoConMusa 3 жыл бұрын
If you are sure you have 18 sc on R3, maybe you didn't make all the inc of the round 4... For R4 you should be making: 2 single crochet and then 1 inc, this whole instruction must be repeat a total of 6 times... If you actually count, the part that you must repeat makes a total of 4 stitches (2 sc + 2 (since the inc is made by 2 sc on the same stitch) for the total of 4) so, by repeating this 6 times (4x6=24) you should de ending with the 24 sc. It is important that you finish each round with the specific stitches, otherwise you will end with a totally different piece. I hope it is now clear and you keep going with your project 😘

What yarn weight did you use?
@CreandoConMusa
@CreandoConMusa 3 жыл бұрын
Hi, Emily! For what i know, it is a DK weight yarn (3-Light yarn weight). Still, if you want, you can use any type of yarn (with the appropriate hook for it) it would only change the size of your finished project. I hooe it was helpful ❤️

@@CreandoConMusa thank you very much for quick answer, I will look on to that "v" stich, and hope that stuffing will make it look better :) :)

Mine is coming out in like a hexagon instead of a circle
@CreandoConMusa
@CreandoConMusa 3 жыл бұрын
Hi, Katie! That is because your increases end up on the same point round after round (you are following the instructions shown on the lower part of the screen for what I see) once you keep going on the next rounds that is not much noticeable, still there is something you can do to avoid your work ending up like a hexagon: You would have to follow the pattern as it is shown on the rest of the screen, the one that shows from R1 - R12... I'm writing it here too: R1: magic ring with 6sc (6 sc) R2: 6 inc (12 sc) R3: [1 inc, 1 sc] *6 (18 sc) R4: [2 sc, 1 inc] *6 (24 sc) R5: sc, inc [3 sc, 1 inc] *5, 2 sc (30 sc) R6: [4 sc, 1 inc] *6 (36 sc) R7: 2 sc, inc, [5 sc, 1 inc] *5, 3 sc (42 sc) R8: [6 sc, 1 inc] *6 (48 sc) R9: 3 sc, inc, [7 sc, 1 inc] *5, 4 sc (54 sc) R10: [8 sc, 1 inc] *6 (60 sc) R11: 4 sc, inc, [9 sc, 1 inc] *5, 5 sc (66 sc) R12: [10 sc, 1 inc] *6 (72 sc) Some beginners might find it hard to follow, but working that way your increases are on different places each round, this way your circle looks more "perfect". Also I recommended you use some stitch markers to have a better control of the stitches on each round. I hope this is helpful and your octopus ends up really nice ❤️

On the tenticels why do they have different number for the last part so the pink has to be 7 and the blue has to be 8 and then they switch
@CreandoConMusa
@CreandoConMusa 3 жыл бұрын
Hi, Kaci. That's to make the number of stitches on the tentacles match the amount of stitches on the body, so you can sew together just aligning them 😉
@CreandoConMusa
@CreandoConMusa 3 жыл бұрын
They must all have the same amount of stitches at the end (a total of 15), you'll make 4 with the decrease on the pink colour, (so for those you'll have 7 pink stitches and 8 blue) and the other 4 tentacles with the decrease on the blue colour (on these you'll have 8 pink stitches and 7 blue). When you sew, you will put one tentacle with 7 pink stitches, then one with 8 pink stitches, one with 7, one with 8 and so on. You'll end up alternating on each colour 7+8+7+8+7+8+7+8= 60 stitches to match the 60 stitches of the body 😁
