Hello, English enthusiasts.
This lesson helps you understand how to reduce a noun clause.
Do you know what a REDUCED NOUN CLAUSE is? Ashish talks about what a noun clause is, and how to reduce it into an infinitive phrase and gerund phrase.
What is a noun clause?
A noun clause is a dependent clause that works as a noun in a sentence.
Examples:
1. I love what you are eating. (object)
2. Whom we met yesterday is an MMA fighter. (subject)
3. We are not thinking about what happened last night.
What is a REDUCED NOUN CLAUSE?
A reduced noun clause is a noun phrase (infinitive phrase or a gerund phrase) reduced from a noun clause.
Noun clause: I don't know how I can get this job.
Reduced noun clause: I don't know how to get this job.
Noun clause: She told us why we should invite Ron to the party.
Reduced noun clause: She told us why to invite Ron to the party.
Noun clause: I hate that I live with her.
Reduced noun clause: I hate living with her.
Watch the lesson until the end to master REDUCED NOUN CLAUSES.

Sir at 14:13 , subject is not same in both dependent and independent clause. 'She' told us why "we" should invite Ron to the Party. I THINK THAT" we" should replace by "She". what is your opinion sir?

49:40 Admitted is a phrasal verb with 'to'. If you want to use it as a verb followed by a gerund, then you should write like "He admitted to stealing my car" but not "He admitted stealing my car".

There is a very very important aspect that you did not take in mind , you say, if you want that the sentence meaning be the same the subject has to be the same , and there is a use in noun clauses which is (noun clause Object complement and its structure is "subject + verb + direct object) and you can reduce it , example •they teach him how he can learn fast Reduction: •they teach him how to learn fast I think include that could be interesting , but anyways it is really tricky. Another aspect that i did not understand was the part in which you say that the subjects must be the same in order to reduce , and you did some examples in which the subjects were diferent each others and you reduced it anyways. But anyways thanks dude you helped me a lot , but i would like that you include those aspects in a new video

In a nutshell,it can be reduced from noun clause to infinitive with to or gerung if the subject in both independent and dependent clause is the same ; otherwise,it can't be done because of meaning changed ,and also why in noun clause can't be reduced to infinitive with to. I don't know why to love him , which is wrong,so i don't know why i love him is correct.

@EnglishWithAshish
@EnglishWithAshish 10 ай бұрын
It’s a preposition that is needed there. With some things like crime, mistakes, involvement, we often use the preposition TO after it. When what you confess is a clause, we don’t use the preposition TO. I confessed that I had a role in the thievery. I confess to stealing money from you.

Due to respect,I am really fine with your contribution to us a lot; however,discussion can be happened to make us be sure that we are getting the right knowledge. I don't think that reduced noun clause can be done when the subject in main clause and the dependent clause is different since the meaning is changed.Please advise if I am wrong on this.

I think I found a mistake in the second sentence of section C where you mentioned the reduced clause containing the person called Max, who is a girl according to the main sentence (nonreduced form) in which you also mentioned "her mother" instead of "his mother". Except for this everything was good. If you can, please make a video on the subject and its pronoun agreements.

@@EnglishWithAshish 26:03 According to your vocal presentation, the name Max is he (masculine)but in the sentence, you have written it as her ( her mother instead of his mother). Complete sentence: "Max wants to know how her mother can improve her driving skills". It should be: Max wants to know how his mother can improve her driving skills because you said Max is masculine in your vocal.

@@jurisveratti4494 the object complement can be either noun, noun phrase, noun clause,, adj.,or adj. phrase, so both object complement and adjective can be the same thing unless if you call the function name that should be object complement ,and it can be either noun or adj as mentioned above.
