Hello, these last lessons are great fo review. I wound ask you something about the sentence at 19:09 is "THE COMPANY CAN'T HIRE" the independent clause ? "the company that I work with " = subject ( that I work with = defining relative adjective clause / works as an adjective). "can't hire" = verb "who you have recomanded" = Object = dependent clsuse, it's also a noun clause and work as a noun. "because he is asking for he doesn't reserve" = dependent clause which works as adverb ,and it's also the reason clause of the previous sentence with a complete meaning despite the fact that its subject contain an adjective clause, and its object is both a dependent clause and a noun clause. Thanks.

The company (that I work with )= Subject + adjective clause that describes the subject. Can't hire= Verb Who you have recomanded= Object and it's also an noun clause. Was that an independent clause like a simple sentence ? Because he is asking for he doesn't reserve = Subordinating clause.

Hello, could someone help me please clarify on this grammar? "The company (I work with) cannot hire (whom you recommend)," is that a SIMPLE SENTENCE even though there is a relative adjective clause in the subject and the object is a noun clause? or "the company can't hire" is an independent clause and "who you recommend" is a subordinate clause, but "who I work with" is connected to the subject, not to a clause.

Shouldn't it be "None of us KNOW where she lives." ? KNOW would be KNOWS only if we were talking about one person: "He KNOWS where she lives."?
@jurisveratti4494
@jurisveratti4494 Жыл бұрын
"Us" is plural; "none of us" means "not even one of us" , so it's third singular person, therefore "know" need "final S".
@WyMustIGo
@WyMustIGo Жыл бұрын
@@jurisveratti4494 "Knows" is SINGULAR first person, KNOW is plural. "us" is plural, so for the verb and subject to agree, they should both be plural. So "KNOW" would be proper in this case.
