Ma'am, I am happy to inform you that I've joined your membership again. Could you teach us the future seen from the past in detail?. I'd like you to teach the past modal verbs (would/should/might +be + ving & would/should/must/could +have been + ving ) forms... These past models are a bit confusing, please teach us fully if I left some of them.

@@Englishwithjennifer Ops. Your accent is so standard I forgot you are not British. It's someone born in an area called the black country in the UK. (During the industrial revolution, everywhere was covered in soot from too many factories). We have a terrible accent and poor grasp of grammar.

Hello Jennifer! Here are some examples! If it weren't for Jennifer, we wouldn't be learning grammar as much easily as we do. If I had the chance to meet a celebrity, I would meet Sylvester Stallone. If I could visit the past to observe an important event, I might want to witness Neil Armstrong stepping on the moon. If I were a millionaire, I could visit abroad and enjoy. If I ate less sugar, I would feel healthier and strong. It would be awful if we lost electricity for more than a day. If I met the president of our country, I would ask a few questions. Please check! If we had understood basic human values, there could be world peace. Thanks! Take care!

Thanks for studying with me. :) Comments/suggestions: If it weren't for Jennifer, we wouldn't be learning grammar as easily as we do. If I had the chance to meet a celebrity, I would choose Sylvester Stallone. If I could visit the past to observe an important event, I might want to witness Neil Armstrong stepping on the moon. (Oh! Good one!) If I were a millionaire, I could visit abroad and enjoy different cultures. If I ate less sugar, I would feel healthier and stronger. If we all understood basic human values, there could be world peace. (OR If we all shared...) >> Use the simple past, not the past perfect. It's a common about the world today. We're imagining the world differently than it is.

hi dear jennider.hadda question.in proposition ev word stress in sentences i dunno whether shud i raise pitch on stressed syllable or the whole word.i hev this problem on multisyllable words.can ye guide me about it.alota thanks.
@Englishwithjennifer2 жыл бұрын
If a word has more than one syllable, then your pitch goes up only on the stressed syllable. Example: I watched the video. >> Stress the two content words "watched" (one syllable, one stressed vowel) and "video" (three syllables, stress the first, step down with falling intonation on the second and third). Prepositions aren't usually stressed. They're function words, not content words. Please see my playlist on rhythm and intonation.

My attempt at the tasks here: Task A: 1.If I had a chance to invite a famous person for dinner, I would invite King Charles. 2. If I could visit the past to observe an important event, I might want to see John F Kennedy's inauguration. 3. If I were a millionaire, I could own a big house with two impressive staircases, one being just for show. Task B: You answered the questions, Jennifer! Task C: 7. If presidents and leaders had more tolerance, there could be world peace. 8. There might be less crime if punishments were more draconian.
@Englishwithjennifer2 жыл бұрын
I think you and the new king would have an interesting conversation! An inauguration or a coronation would be worth seeing. Two staircases? I don't need any stairs, just a personal chef, a butler, and a maid! Harsher punishments? Yes. Medieval torture? No. Let's hope for a kinder, safer, more tolerant, more peaceful world!
@stunninglad12 жыл бұрын
@@Englishwithjennifer Please note that I do not endorse draconian punishments for all crimes. For example, those who are late in returning their library books get off quite lightly: only ten years in the slammer for them. (Slammer means prison.)
