Hi Kristina! I really liked your video because it is quite easy to understand. Since I am an English teacher these kinds of explanations are necessary for me, specially when it comes to teach something related to the speaking aspect of the language. thanks a lot. Keep on this!!!

Are you sure about "here"? I recently had a discovery from dictionaries that "here", "hear", "mere" and all similar words with a following "r" actually have the short i sound according to dictionaries (Merriam-Webster /i/, Longman /ɪ/), i.e. the same sound as in pin, fin, silk, etc. I can't seem to wrap my head around this. Do you happen to know anything about this?

@@victoriamartellotto2021 Hi!! thanks for remembering this question, because a haven´t find the answer till just 30 minutes ago, it results that the /I/ phoneme called the short I and the /i:/ called the long I appear in the IPA chart of R.P while the /i/ phoneme doesn't this is an allophone, which it means that it a transformation of a pure sound. it sound is a variation or a mixture from the long i /i:/ and the short I /i/ and it has a name it´s called the "happy I" and we can find this sound at the very end of the words containing the letter "Y" in a final position as in happy, university or empty. and the pronunciation is not too long not too short, I'll let you a place to a better understanding www.adrianunderhill.com/2014/01/28/the-familiar-i%CB%90-and-%C9%AA-but-also-the-mysterious-i-how-many-phonemes-do-we-need/www.adrianunderhill.com/2014/01/28/the-familiar-i%CB%90-and-%C9%AA-but-also-the-mysterious-i-how-many-phonemes-do-we-need/

Just a quick feedback: I know many love the bickering and long intro, but I wish you would have explained it faster. I dont need much entertainment when I'm searching for information, which is why I went to a different video after you hadn't gotten to the point in almost two minutes. But I mean this in the kindest way. Your work is obviously liked, it has over 10.000 clicks. Just had to add my 2 cents :)
