This was my favorite song as a young child in Chicago. My uncle returned from the Korean War with a music box for his mother, my grandmother. I memorized the melody, the only music I ever memorized, so I could hum it upon will, and incase the music box vanished from the family. I have always found it to be the most beautiful song I ever heard. My uncle only said it was a popular Korean love song. I am please to discover at age 70 that it is much more then a simple Korean folksong; and that I can find it in the greater world and not only inside my memory.

This song is our lesson here in the Philippines (East Asia traditional songs) ngl I thought the songs: Sakura, Mo Li Hua, Arirang is gonna be a boring one but tbh I loved it its relaxing and sounds like a lullaby definitely gonna listen to it again if I have a hard time falling asleep

I think this could be a living fossil melody. I touches those that hear it even if they don’t understand it. Perhaps it’s a song from the pre flood global civilization. That’s why there’s a seemingly unrelated Tamil version. Bharat tends to hold super ancient knowledge well.
