The first step in building a strong understanding of English grammar is knowing all the parts of a sentence. In English, every word in a sentence has a specific role. In this lesson, we will look specifically at nouns and adjectives. I will explain what nouns and adjectives are for and how they are used in a sentence. Some nouns are not as obvious as others. For example, is “online” a noun or an adjective? Hint: it depends on the order of the words in the sentence! Whether you are a beginner or an advanced English learner, you will deepen your understanding of nouns and adjectives by watching this lesson. Test yourself by completing the quiz afterwards: www.engvid.com...

Dear Adam, Your lessons helped me a lot and has improved my English. Can you please let me know about Precis writing in detail. How to write a Precis?
@sirmeowthelibrarycat
@sirmeowthelibrarycat 4 жыл бұрын
Muhammad Faisal Irshad 👨🏻‍🏫 Hello, Muhammad. Mr Teacher here in England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿. I can help you with your question. A précis is a short version of a text. Start by reading the text at least twice (2 times). Next, look for the nouns in each paragraph and make a list of them. Then decide what the meaning of the paragraph is using those nouns and their associated descriptors (pronouns, adjectives). Now you can draft the first version of the précis in the third person. Finally, write it once more with changes to correct the grammar if needed. The précis you have written should look and read like a mini essay.

I don't know when to use "orange juice" or "juice of orange". A few days ago I was watching a movie when I saw "Department of justice" and I thought "Why not Justice Department"? I'm confused.
@sirmeowthelibrarycat
@sirmeowthelibrarycat 4 жыл бұрын
Camilo Andrés Ramírez Pernía 👨🏻‍🏫 Hell, Camilo. Mr Teacher here in England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿. I can help you with your question. The difference between these examples is not that obvious. What we can say is that ‘something of something’ is standard English with specific application. Your example ‘Department of Justice’ is like that. It is possible to use ‘Justice Department’ more in spoken English, as when a news reporter is on camera. We do not use your other example very much as it places the words in an awkward sequence. ‘Orange juice’ is the standard form, not ‘juice of orange’.

We have all of them. Love, happiness, freedom and etc. If they exist why not heaven? We arent able just to see or hear them, it doesnt mean that they are unreal.

The word "smoke" refers to the substance which has no volume, fomr and appears when something is burning (tabaco leaves for instance). The word "smoking" refers to the action, when somebody uses cigarette and fire to create the substance I have mentioned before and inhales it.
