This is fantastic! And also, it only goes to show how much we DO need grammar!!! People over the Internet tend to overlook or underrate grammar books and focus on the "practice", on "real life". Those aspects are not wrong to be considered, but they, alone, don't hold water!

I love my language, Brazilian Portuguese (Brazil) and I'm very good at it. But I also love your language, English, well-spoken, written, as my language. I can't speak or write your language well, but maybe overhearing I hear you speaking and understand what you are teaching. Gratitude for the post.

@sirmeowthelibrarycat4 жыл бұрын
Shaikh Asghar 👨🏻🏫 Hello. Mr Teacher here in England 🏴. I have an answer to your question. Adam used ‘each of these verbs’ where ‘each’ is singular but the set of verbs is plural. Thus: Each verb works like this (example here) like this (example here) and so on. It is grammatically sensible to shorten this list to what Adam said.

I love this man (I´m so sorry Rebecca but I´ll never "speak like a manager" :) ) ! Just kidding, I love Rebecca too (why was not she my mother? :) ) By the way sir, can you suggest us an "good" English grammar book? I would like to take the IELTS (maybe in 2023 or maybe in 2024, I mean the CDT). There are many titles but do you "prefer" or like one particularly? Thank you (and all the members of engvid of course ) for the effort you put on these videos (I know I must sound like a chimp right now but hopefully I´ll speak like a manager by the end of 2024 :) ).

Hey Adam, which could be a good grammar book, in your opinion? Is "English grammar in use" a good one? Or maybe if you could recommend a grammar book that is complete. I acquired english, didn´t learn it, so I´m going through the basics now to study as an ESL teacher. I am realising just know I know nothing about grammar. So thank you so much for your lessons!! Highly recommendable :)

Which of the two sentences is correct? 'What did you do' or 'what you did'? and why
@sirmeowthelibrarycat4 жыл бұрын
Winston Alejandro Güichardo Pérez 👨🏻🏫 Hello, Winston. Mr Teacher here in England 🏴. I have an answer to your question. Example sentence One is correct but it needs a question mark to complete it. Example sentence Two is incorrect. Something is missing from it after ‘did’. This is how it should look: ‘What you did is unforgivable’ or ‘What you did was very brave of you. Rescuing my cat from a fierce dog was dangerous.’
