Hello Alex, The fine T-shirt suits you. I checked the Quiz after watching your video.@ How close are we to the end? @ How closely can you listen to the speech? Are both sentences okay? If it's okay, the word following 'how' depends on the meaning of the sentences rather than adjective of 'close' or the adverb of 'closely'. By the way, ' How dare you?' sounds also useful. Sometimes, It’s needed to say just 'no' to unwanted somebody's rude to concentrate on the things that are really important.

Another useful lesson, thank you. I do have a question though about something totally unrelated to the video and was hoping you could help me with that. One of the most frustrating things I've come across as an English learner is trying to make out the lyrics of any song, this tends to be particularly frustrating because when I listen to the actual song I don't understand much but when I look it up on the internet I realize I know all the words. Is there a particular exercise or something that I can do to improve this part of my listening or do you think is something native English speakers struggle alike as well?
@engvidAlex7 жыл бұрын
I struggle with this just as much as English learners depending on the singer. Thom Yorke from Radiohead requires a translator! I’d say keep listening to the stuff you like and learn the lyrics by looking them up if you don’t understand them. Someone like Frank Sinatra is pretty easy to understand, but there are plenty of singers that are hard to understand 100%.

It means "in the most basic sense." It is a way of breaking an idea down to its fundamental base. Learning a new language is tough and requires time. Basically, you need to devote yourself to it on a consistent basis in order to be successful.

It's an option, not a necessity. You can use adverbs to change the entire feeling of a sentence. Normally, I wouldn't do this. Happily, she sang. I appreciate your feedback. However, I disagree with your argument. I hope this helps.

English Lessons with Alex (engVid AlexESLvid) yeah thank you for responding here. 😊 so, I got some more questions to ask you here, So yeah I just need a native to confirm that what I think I've noticed is correct. please this is gonna change something in my mind that it is confused about. so I am gonna ask, okay here are my questions. 1. I am confused about adverbs. I have listened to a lot and thought about them a lot. so, what I am really confused about is that, you know we start sentences like basically, ..., apparently, .... actually, .... statistically, ... technically,.... etc so here why do we use these at the beginning? and also I've noticed that we end sentences like putting these same adverbs that I've just mentioned above. why is it so? what is the difference between the beginning and the end position? I just want you to tell me why. and also you know that we say like "oh by the way, I like you" and "I like you, by the way". what's the difference between using by the way at the beginning and the end position?
@Kannadalyricalsongs5077 жыл бұрын
English Lessons with Alex (engVid AlexESLvid) 2. about how you respond. like (yeah, no, you are right) and (no, yeah, you are right) like you know first you agree and disagree and say what you wanna say and first you disagree and agree and say what you wanna say to a person that you are talking to, so what does this mean? and also you respond like (well, yeah, and then you say something) and (yeah, well, and then you say something) so, what's the difference here?
@Kannadalyricalsongs5077 жыл бұрын
English Lessons with Alex (engVid AlexESLvid) and you know what, Sir, I've checked online that no English coach/teeacher has explained everything about adverbs which I just asked you about. you know it confuses a student's mind. and our mind should not be confused cause it's useless when it is. you know it's not gonna get any work done or move forward in anything if it's confused. do you agree, Sir?

Hi Alex, PLEASE READ THIS!!!!. I learned English with this amazing book "English Grammar - Betty S. Azar". From my point of view, it is a really nice English book since there is everything! (almost). There is everything (the necessary) that someone should know about English Grammar. I think that If I could find similar books for any other language, I could be able to learn it very fast. My question is: How do I find those books? For instance, If I want to learn Dutch, where is that complete Dutch Grammar Book? .......and the same for any other language. Since you are professional in this subject of languages, I though that you could give me some advice. Perhaps, you know how I can find those kind of books for any other (or the majority) language.
@engvidAlex7 жыл бұрын
Hi Luis, my knowledge of grammar books doesn't go very far beyond what is available for English. I've also used Betty Azar in the past, and I agree that she does a very good job of basically teaching you everything you will need to know. I'm a little familiar with the French book market because I work with French teachers and am studying the language myself, but I'm not familiar at all with what's good for other languages, like Dutch, for example. I would probably do what most people would do in your situation and just google "best Dutch language learning books" or something similar. :) Sorry! I wish I could be of more help in this case.
