@AntPet9995 жыл бұрын
I think she hasn't really any accent. She has just a correct and good type of English.
@chocolatepoodle60284 жыл бұрын
@@AntPet999 She does actually have a bit of an East Midlands accent, but it's a bit hard to pick up on unless you know what to listen for. I only recognised it because I'm from the East Midlands myself (Derby, specifically), but Gill's accent is a lot softer than most and has been mixed with a southern accent over time. If you're interested, some people with a similar (though stronger) accent include Isy Suttie (actress and comedian), Joe Dempsie (actor, was in Game of Thrones), and Vicky McClure (another actress, best known for Line of Duty). Compared to other regional accents in England it's a lot softer, but there are still some major giveaways when compared to southern accents, e.g. the pronunciation of bath, castle, up, cup, etc.
@chocolatepoodle60284 жыл бұрын
@@AntPet999 Also sorry for writing an essay, but I always feel the need to speak up when it concerns my own accent. XD
@AntPet9994 жыл бұрын
@@chocolatepoodle6028 thanks for information. Of course I'm not able to identify slight accents, haven't ever been to any English speaking country and English isn't my native language. It is interesting how there are so many and so different types of English (dialects, accents) exist on a comparatively small island.
@chocolatepoodle60284 жыл бұрын
@@AntPet999 You're welcome. 😊 Is this not the case where you are from? I assumed this was common in most 'old' (i.e. non-colonial) nations. For most of history, British people (including Welsh and Scottish) would have stayed in their own small villages and settlements without ever traveling much during their lives. This would have allowed each of these areas to evolve their own, isolated accents which became more distinctive with time. Added to that, there are accents (such as the Scouse accent, in Liverpool) which have been influenced by more recent migrations, particularly from the Irish. :)
