quite a lot of mistake in this video.... à la mode = fashion. Hors d'oeuvre = dish you eat before the proper lunch. Eau de toilette = perfume....but not perfume from toilet...
@antoinerozzi6224 жыл бұрын
before the bathroom was in all the houses, we put a few drops of perfumed alcohol on a wet towel. it meant "Faire sa toilette" = "cleaning up" water with scented (perfumed) alcohol is "eau de toilette"

Hello Ronnie! Hope you are doing well ? You are an amazing teacher, like the way how you teach. I'am a french teacher in Morocco and here is a question for you : " à la mode", "la mode" means " fashion" à la mode" means something that everyone do or wear because it is a fashin thing. But when we say " le mode" that means " the way, the side". From example, " son (le) mode de fonctionnement de mon frère est différent du mien": the way how my brother works is different from mine "

Hello Ronny. Bonjour de France. 'toilette' in French is just an old fashioned way to say: to wash. A long time ago, as it was no running water in houses, some people used to wash with cloths soaked in alcohol which, like soap, can dissolve dirt and perfumed to mask human body odour. Yuk! So.. the same composition as 'l'eau de toilette'.??? Have a gorgeous day :)

Hi, I really appreciate your work, your passion to help people speak and understand English. I have been washing you for years. By the way, I am from Haiti, and I just want clarify something. Some people in my country speak French (not to say we speak French), and some people also speak English. I can say we speak a little of every language. The way I understand " à la mode" it means something fashionable" something that every one is using.
