Hate to tell you it's not just at bars. A woman can get attacked just the same in a church parking lot, a shopping center, her child's school, or AT HOME. Critical thought is necessary. Step outta the Bar mindset. Thanks 4 listening. Sincerely, A woman who survived an attack in a church parking lot and 3 attempted murders via the ex spouse in her house.

Funny you bring up Carl Cestari, word is that Carl and Vunak had a disagreement at a seminar that vunak was having. They bumped into each other in the restroom and one thing led to another and Carl walked out of the restroom and Vunak walked out with his face red and his eyes watering. The person who told me this was there and it wasn't 3rd stool down info...

The only bad thing about what he said with t he hitting is, if the guy came up to ask you a question and you attack him then you might be charged with assault. He has to make the first attack before you can defend yourself,and not just walk up to you and get in your face to talk.
@MartinSage2 жыл бұрын
Was at a gas station, filled my tank and ready to leave. Guy backs up in front of me to get gas. Nobody behind me so I get in reverse. Just then a lady driver pulls close behind me. I ask her to please back up so I can get out and she can use the pump. She say NO! You got room. I inch back and tap her bumper. A football jock comes storming at me. When he is a foot from my door I swing it open and knock him on his ass. I get out and before he gets up I hit him hard in the nose. Blood shoots out. Cop arrives in seconds and guess who goes to jail. Yup, me! Being 38, 6-2 185lbs and in good shape didn’t help.
@chaxologist20242 жыл бұрын
Too bad, we live in the 21st century with woke culture and laws being too soft on martial arts and being too tough on the act of self-defense. Well, this was designed for war and shutting down opponents, especially if it took place during the 18th century where practically every potential enemy may be carrying a sword or a knife. That is where Jeet Kune Do would be perfect for and it would be completely normal if a life is lost or someone is getting beaten up on a daily basis with the authorities seeing it as completely normal act of self defense! For the modern day, I'd suggest take up 52 Blocks, the exclusive art of destructive and elusive defense developed in jails where inmates were empty handed and had to deal with police brutality or other inmates attacking them.

That's true. But that's where practicing proper awareness comes in. You usually know when someone is coming up to you in an aggressive manner or not. But if you're not sure you need to act somehow. I once had someone coming towards me quickly. I put my hands up in front of me and said "HEY HEY! What's up?". He stopped and said sorry. Then he asked his question. I don't remember the question, but he was excited and I guess was unaware that walking up that fast to someone could be misunderstood as aggressive. But no one should ever get right in your face. If you can stop them somehow at a distance verbally, then their intent is disrupted if their intent was violence. If they continue to come at you, then hit them. They were warned. If someone comes right to you in your face and you're not able to say anything in time, then hit them. What was the need for them to get that close to you anyway?

Fortunately , many impending bar, etc. fights can be de-fused before they start with proper talking skills. I've gotten out of many fights by telling attacker things like i know he can beat me , refusing to fight and acting submissive, taking the aggression away at least from my side . I probably could have won many of these, but , like ignoring a bully, it often confuses them enough to defuse their anger to point they lose need to fight. If you dont fight back., there often is no fight. That said, it doesnt always work, and I'll been in some pretty bad fights, usually my injuries were not from being hit , but from hitting aggressor in hard places , like the head , not recommended.

A opponent walking up to and keeps talking then strike. Does that include at your work or job ? That would prove costly unless there's no witness or cameras. That would only mean body shots only. @vedder102 жыл бұрын
The issue is that many places have security cams. Even bars. If you are recorded hitting a person walking over to you, even if he's giving you a stink eye you are going to have a hard time pleading self-defense. You could end up paying out more than you are prepared to and literally ruining your finances and current employment. So I suggest exposing yourself to Tony Blauer's Spear system against sucker punches and concepts of de-escalation.

Why would you say this, other than to disrespect Vu as well as his worldwide cadre of students and followers? One of the principles of all martial arts is Respect. Maybe you dont know that, and if that's the case, so be it and there is much to learn. If you had come into any of my classes and made such a remark I would have asked you not to come back until you had an understanding at least of the basics of the principle of Respect, and maybe we could help develop it from there, along with Integrity and Compassion. Praying for you today, brother.
