I’ve heard that Arma Reforger is an early alpha or precursor to Arma 4. Its theme, along with Arma: Cold War Assault and GHPC, seems to center on the 1980s to 1989 era, which is interesting. I wonder if GHPC will ever add VR support that would be amazing to see.

@@matthewjones39 We have a standing policy of not discussing release dates ahead of time, but rest assured it will happen eventually. Campaign overhaul is on the roadmap, in case you want to get a general sense of the priority level.

The most important update, because infantry was the core of ground forces, when tanks, APCs, heliopters, artillery, mobile light SAM etc. were just to more or less support infantry.

And the supporting arms were operated by special trained "infantry" those men only task is to operated the machines and support the main infantry formation 😅

Yeah this is the biggest problem of "vehicle games" when it comes to realism. In real life these vehicles are part of combined arms, and in the end exist to fight and support infantry. Having only tank vs tank skirmishes is not realistic representation of combat

@@czwarty7878 the tank was originally made to support infantry to break the deadlock of ww1 , in ww2 tanks were use to support infantry attack and they can also be used separately in armored assaults ( spearhead for offensive) , as tank got faster , they outrun marching infantry units and loses close support , that's when there is mechanized infantry to help . After all of the development , it's just combined arms tactic

I absolutely love this game and I think many flight sim players should give it a shot. It probably has the most realistic audio of any combat game I've played. Can't wait to see how it evolves, thanks for bringing attention to this gem!

Exactly what I've been saying about War Thunder since forever. Tanks are cool, but they're ultimately a subject of the Queen of Battle. The ebb and flow of infantry presence adds an essential dynamism that you won't get if it's just a bunch of metal bricks taking potshots at each other.

I REALLY hope that they add infantry to IL-2: Korea in a similar and useful fashion. The lack of them in their WW2 and WW1 sims really take it away for me. Seeing this in GHPC is pretty awesome. How would you say it compares to Steel Beasts Pro? I haven't gotten GHPC because it seems like SB covers that already...but obviously not as pretty.

I didn't play SB, my sense they are two different games. SB seems like its more straight simulator but a lot less playability. GHPC is pretty approachable but scratches the sim itch at the same time as well.

Now that they have Infantry they need to add Forward Observers. Imagine sitting in your observation post and calling for artillery on enemy armor and troops in the open. The dream of any 13Fox. You'd get to actually do the job of an FO rather than just being forced to be another infantryman.. Eyes of Death, Balls of Steel! King of battle, rain death from above!

I've always wanted to like war thunder as it has had the best damage model for any multiplayer based tank game for a while, but the lack of infantry to round out the experience has greatly detracted from its overall quality for an extended period. I'm glad to see GHPC incorporating this, if they go multiplayer with this game, I could see it very easily surpassing war thunder in short order.

It's a common theme with games now that modern game devs have to rediscover things that were already done in the past. Steel Fury: Kharkov 1942 is a World War 2 tank sim from 2007 and it has infantry in it. Glad to see this game getting it.

M1 Tank Platoon 2 from 1998 was the penultimate sim that this game should strive to be, not just a tank shooter. It's looking good though. I already bought this a while ago, I'm just waiting for it to be semi-complete until I put hours into it.

Not sure what point you're trying to make... This game is EA and still being developed. It's not like they had already released it and then decided to finally add infantry. They just made it to a point in development where armor and weapons were implemented well enough that they could add dismounted infantry to the game.

im glad this update has finally come to but im still curious what development hell was going on for the past 3-4 months. im no game dev so perhaps infantry really was this difficult of a process to incorporate but something still feels off to me. hopefully a dev stream drops so we can at least know what happened.

Brother are you really complaining that an update that adds a completely new dynamic to the game took about 60 days than longer than normal to come out. There's been plenty of 4 months gaps between updates.

I would imagine that adding in infantry was a huge addition. Think about the animations, the rag doll physics, their behaviour of what they do at a trench line, or under fire, or whatever. It's one update but it has many different parts.

Infantry is a great addition to GHPC however, honestly I think for the sake of longevity it is important for them to add multiplayer (CO-OP) to the game.

Multiplayer is at the very end of the road map. Personally I could care less about having multiplayer, especially PVP. It's very difficult to make that realistic and fun, and in GHPC I'm looking for realism. CO-OP would definitely be appreciated, but I'd rather see a finished game before that

Infantry can't survive any armored contact so I don't understand the point. I rather they put effort into the things the community wants like adding the AbramsX and the KF-51 Panther

You know the game is set in the '80s right? Those tanks are way out of scope. Also infantry is still the centerpiece of battles, there has been no war where only tanks duke it out like war thunder

Playing a tank without infantry makes tanking feel really sterile. Infantry, on their own, can force tanks to move. I think IL-2 GB Tanking is a great example of this. That game had no infantry, so there was no reason for tanks. The tank fights boiled down to a race to whoever could get the best position and then never move.
