Huge appreciation for everyone worried about Savannah. I strongly recommend to anyone living the vanlife that they have tow straps and Maxx Traxx of some kind on you if you are choosing the van life. My friends and I get stuck in spite of our best efforts so please be prepared. The links below are Amazon affiliate links and using them does not cost you any more but Amazon pays me a small percentage if you use them which is part of how I support myself on the road. Cheers, ~Jamie
Links to equipment used in the video.
SCHTUMPA Soft Shackle: amzn.to/3sDkqlA
Maxtrax MKII Vehicle Recovery Board: amzn.to/3gMJmS9
PLEASE NOTE TO GET THE RIGHT ROPE SIZE ;)
The Rhino USA kinetic rope link is for the 5/8" x 20' that's only rated for pulling side by sides and ATVs. 7/8" would be for SUVs & 3/4 ton pick-ups. 1" would be recommended for 1 ton and Vans.
(USED IN THE VIDEO) Rhino USA Kinetic Recovery Tow Rope Heavy Duty Offroad Snatch Strap: amzn.to/3gMMBZP
(HEAVIER ) Grip 20 ft x 7/8 in Kinetic Energy Recovery Rope: amzn.to/3HLyIap
(HEAVIER STILL) Innocedear Kinetic 1"×30ft Recovery & Tow Rope Strap: amzn.to/3rJAJOP
ROGTZ Electric Car Jack Hydraulic with Touch Screen, 2.0 Upgraded Portable 5 Ton: amzn.to/3BgRkfN
I have been living the vanlife buslife now for 10 years so if you have any questions or would like to see a dedicated video covering a vanlife question that you may have, please comment below and who knows? Maybe your topic will be the subject of an upcoming video. Take care. ~Jamie

Pro Tip; instead of a shovel, use a garden hoe. (Pull), dirt/sand/snow. Much more user friendly. Peace

Hoe’s usually are more user friendly. Your killing me there.I know what you mean but can’t help myself and laugh. Couldn’t stop my mom from hoeing too. All the time in the garden even in her 80’s better than a rake or shovel.

I had an 8 yr old dog disappear in a fenced yard. It was crazy, could NOT find her. She was hiding under a bush. They will wander off sometimes if they are sick. She was-tumor. One day just great, the next she wasn’t. Please get her checked. And we will all hope she is 100% And don’t rule out a little dementia. Savannah we love you! 😍

I got stuck in Gold Beach Oregon. $250. Front wheel drive Vans are great for hard surfaces but caution near that soft sand. If you do get stuck do not try to rock it forward & backward to get that momentum we expect or you get buried to the frame. My .02

Thanks for offering your experience here, Rob. We were almost bottomed out in this one. I have a policy that at the very first sign of spinning but not moving, STOP and get out and see what the problem is. Always leads to way less work to get back mobile.

That is a cool rope! At first I thought it was a video glitch. Give Savannah Bach's Rescue Remedy. 2-3 drops in your hand 4x/day plus a couple drops in her water bowl. That was recommended to me when Sunny was attacked by another dog last summer. She was back to her brave self in a week or two. Good for humans too! Order in Amazon or many health stores carry the brand.

May want to let people know so they don't just click and buy a rope that won't work for them.

Looking at her while you held her it came to my mind is her nose OK? I’m referring to her sense of smell so she can readily pick up scents? May want to test her on that. When a dog loses their sense of smell, it is as if they are losing their sense of sight! Without being able to detect or interpret scents, dogs can find themselves unable to function properly in their surroundings. Since dogs move their nostrils independently, they can determine the direction of an odor and use their sense of smell like a compass.

I have driven is soft sand many times and first I let some air out of the tires so your tire can get better traction (have a pump to refill tires after your back on the road), having good tires like the ones on this van, don't turn the wheel too much or instead of rolling you will start plowing the sand and get stuck and don't stop moving until your at your location or in a harder packed sand, if you do get stuck don't try to drive out or you could get stuck even worse, I would shovel out some sand from in front of the tires, put something to get traction (wood, floor mats, rocks etc...) and try to rock the car back and forth to gain momentum and drive out but if you still stuck try and call for help if there is no service on the cell its nice to have a backup radio or Satellite communicator

Great reminder video.... interestingly I just got some trax type recovery boards less than a week ago. Question: Unlike my chain.....I don't see any hooks on either end of the rhino ropes, just looks like loops. Do you need to buy addition items to attach them to the vehicles?
@enigmaticnomadics

Great question, Terry. With the SCHTUMPA Soft Shackle: amzn.to/3sDkqlA at both ends, hooks are neither necessary, nor pose a safety hazard if something were to snap. Take care!

Nice video Jamie! So glad to see Savanna’s back. Poor pup, I hope she starts to do better now that she’s back, it must have traumatized her to be gone so long. Great info on the recovery gear. I have a 4x4 and I’m always helping people get unstuck, that said I should have recover gear for myself because you can get stuck trying to pull people out. Love that electric jack!!! I’m ordering one now.
