Hearing that it didn't come in as clutter is such a relief to me! I tend to punish myself by condemning my choice to even buy something to begin with. Boldly giving yourself permission to keep your grandfather's jacket bought tears of relief to me. Great info... thanks!!

I live in California, where we are urged to hang onto at least minimal camping gear in case The Big One makes our whole city into a homeless encampment. So although we are 67 we are not only keeping ours but making it more accessible! Good example of different thinking.

Laughe so much " its like overeating and nit pooping" haha . You are sweet and light in the dark. While listening I decluttered 80 things. It was puzzling me at 60 why I am not wearing black, some costume jewelry and hair ornaments. etc, duplicates (just in case stuff). Thank you so much and hugs from regional Australia. There are no organizers here so your encouragement and guidance is REALLY appreciated. Thank you. 🇦🇺✔💖😎

Love your vídeos. I AM starting my decluttering journey. Well, in fact have been decluttering since 2016, and my life has really changed. I have less stress, less mess, and can enjoy my time with my son and husband instead of spending time cleaning and organizing. I still find things to declutter, but it's not so overwhelming as It was. TKS a Lot for your video! A big hug from Brazil!

Wow - Brazil! So glad you enjoy my videos. Decluttering is a life-long endeavor, to adapt to our changing circumstances. It's often easier to work in little bits - no more than 2 hours a week - unless you're really set up for a day... to set a steady pace. Enjoy!

Clutter Clarity can I just say I am so happy with the idea to record them looking at all their photos, this makes it into a happy experience! I wish everyone knew this! For me it was so hard after caring for my grandparents with dementia going through the photographs after they had passed away was heartbreaking. If only I had done this before they got into late stage dementia it would have been lovely to keep a recording of their “life” I really appreciate these videos ! My mother was a teacher who retired in 2004 and passed on in 2010. She brought home a bunch of boxes from her last classroom (but probably accumulated over the years) and put all of that stuff in the basement. She had to come out of the classroom for health reasons, so she probably thought she would keep all of that stuff in case she was able to go back to work at some point, but she never did. I have been going through that stuff in small increments over the past month and discarding a lot of it. Some things are hard to get rid of. I am not sure what to do with them. I found a box of solar calculators. Even though they are old, I think they're all brand new, but who uses solar calculators now that all cell phones contain calculators. I found lots of old games. I found a box of Flintstone fun packets for kids. I found a big box of used crayons, which my mother probably let her students use for art projects in class. I've also found all kinds of useful supplies that I will never use, though I'm not sure what supplies are currently used in schools. Lots of old educational cassettes, VHS tapes, and CDs have been going out in the Herbie Curb. And then there is the old paperwork -- lesson plans and all kinds of other things that teachers would have. If you are still an active teacher, I would say to keep things that you actually used this past year for which you did not get new stuff from the school. Otherwise, toss it. I have been on a decluttering journey for a couple of months now, and I have found it actually quite interesting. I am interested in seeing how the house will evolve, both the house itself and the basement, as I continued decluttering. I have also found some treasures, both in the personal sense and in terms of value.

So much to think about. I want to give a big purse to a friend. Not such a good idea because she has a bad back and it would be too heavy. I already showed it to her and now I should still give it to her. It is brand new ,and never been used.

I don't see anyone talking about collectable dolls& curio cabinets.I have 2 full,these were once valuable (before ebay made them dirt cheap )It was a fun enjoyable hobby 30 years ago.I have donated many,all dolls that were in their boxes.What can I do with these,most are porcelain.No one in family want them.
@ClutterClarity
@ClutterClarity 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Wanda - No one talking about it specifically because what you do with dolls is the same process... Family doesn't want them, dirt cheap...maybe a local consignment shop would be interested in your collection or donate them. Go on facebook and ask if anyone wants them. What to do with the dolls is rather straight forward (sell, donate, give away). Goodwill? Children's center, shelter for women and children... Give them away for someone less fortunate to enjoy and benefit. You actually would feel good about that, right? Good luck! Thanks for subscribing.

My daughter’s paternal grandma kept her doll collection beautifully displayed in the top shelf of the coat closet, and it had a magical feeling. The dolls have been packed away for years because she passed, but I’d love to recreate that shelf at some point.
