I don’t eat a lot of fruit to keep my carbs down. On the rare occasion I really want something sweet I would rather it be a little fruit than cookies or something of that sort. In the summer I will sometimes freeze fresh berries with a few grapes and it does the trick.

I started adding fruit back in my diet, and with small quanities. It helps me stay more on course with lower carbs.

You are right Dr G. i’ve been on keto since 2020 and feeling awesome. Learning how to cook, reading labels during grocery shop, and meal planing are part of my routine. Once in a while I allow myself to enjoy little pieces of my old favorite fruits with my salad, but I always come back to berries. Hydration and exercising are also very important. Thank you

I buy frozen berry blend of red and black raspberries and blueberries from Costco, cook them a little while on the stove top. I then add allulose to taste, then enough chia seed to absorb the juices and thicken it to a jelly state, add a sprinkle of cinnamon (it's a wonderful addition). I eat it on toasted keto bread (that doesn't spike my glucose) with butter or natural peanut butter. It's amazing how small of a response the combination gives me.

I recently discovered Spindrift sparkling water. They use real fruit juice but the total carb count is very low, 1-4 total carbs per 12 oz can depending on the flavor you choose. So far, I am able to keep my carbs low drinking it while enjoying the real juice taste with the effervescent soda-like tingle I miss. It hits those notes for me and I am not tempted to overindulge by having fruit in the fridge or freezer.

Happiest day of my life when I figured out I did not need to eat fruit. Never liked fruit. However, for those that do, good advice. 👍. Cannot imagine eating salad every day any more either. I don't eat any, but do love salad. Found out when I stopped eating it just how much it did not love me.... 🙄

I know just how you feel because I used to eat spinach and kale every day and felt awful but didn't know why until I figured it out that those leafy veggies didn't agree with me. So I stopped and never looked back! I still eat salads and other vegetables, I just avoid spinach and kale.

Becky, I have listened to your good advice for years when I was on keto. This past year I ate the carnivore diet and have been very healthy as a result. A month ago I came into contact with my chiropractor whom I had not seen in months but I pulled an abdominal muscle a bit so went to him and he helped me a lot by treating the nerves from my spine. However, he had a bad cold and coughed a lot, then three days later I was sick. I was sick coughing for two weeks. My appetite was right down and carnivore food did not appeal. Oranges are in season here in Australia so my husband picked some for me from a local tree, plus I asked for organic apples. I’m better now and eating carnivore, but mid afternoon I have an orange and an apple. I’m a very healthy, slim, fit, 69 y/o and never get sick nor am on any meds! I would say that I am insulin sensitive so don’t feel that the fruit is harming me, plus I may not continue with the apples for more than another week but the oranges are a real treat. I believe that my body asked for the fruit because God knows what we need at any time. 🙏✝️🇦🇺

Thanks, Dr. Becky. I didn't know that Eggplant was a fruit. I got it twice in my weekly 'vegan' basket and stared at it quizzically with curiosity till I found recipes. I don't stare at them any longer. It's terrific sautéd in olive oil and filling especially learning that it's very high in fibre. Great for my BG control.

How's Mr. Keith? I wonder if after all this time if he can tolerate more carbs now after weight loss. DO we ever recover? Tks for this. I'm sure the fruit in moderation is better than fake sugar to satisfy the sweet tooth. Slippery slope unfortunately.

I am 4 days in and have lost about 7.5 lbs... I'm told that's mostly water weight. Ok, I'll just keep going and see what happens while continuing to cut carbs down as much as comfortably possible (currently aiming for 80 g/day). The question I have is how many g of protein and how many g of fat? I can't seem to find a video that answers that question and would appreciate a little guidance. Thank you!

Exactly right. All of it. People need to quit demonizing fruit. Yes you shouldn't consume a ton of it but it's absolutely ok in moderation and berries are totally fine. I have a handful of blueberries and raspberries nearly every day. Blueberries in particular have a very low glycemic index and a good source of fiber (see her video on this). I love bananas but don't eat them nearly as much as I used too....BUT....about every 6 weeks or so I will treat myself to one a day for 3-4 days in a row. Certainly not going to hurt you lol. I do the same with a fresh mango: 1 about every 6 weeks.

Love Dr. Becky and everything she says here but I do not agree about the product LMNT . It has way too much sodium per packet even to take when I’m fasting. It’s also ridiculously overpriced at $40 plus per box. You can easily make your own electrolyte drink to take after a workout for Pennies.. Other then that, great information as always❤

Unfortunately I can't have any fruit. I have a sugar addiction. One week ago I had half a cup of blueberries (I saw a video of a doctor saying that they are super good for the gut). The next day I ended in the supermarket buying donuts and kit Kat...I had a total hangover, I only eat meat so I felt terrible...
