Germany suffers. Or does it? Enlisted has a problem with the Axis faction, it keeps losing. But why? Which faction is the best faction, for beginners and pros? As an Axis high tier main, I've lately noticed that I'm the only one building rallies, people using STARTER weapons at BR 5 and people with 9 squad deaths at the end of the game with only 4 kills.

Another problem is that German players get divided among soviet and US queues, not so much a problem in low tier but high tier is f-ing crippled due to it, since most of the times there's 2 or 3 tier V players, and the rest of the team is tier III, making them have to fight about 5 or 6 high tier soviets/Americans, and that's simply an incredibly hard fight to win

War thunder doesn't have much of a bias. It exists, but at the same time. You still see kids go around a corner and get sniped by a tiger 2. The snail bias kicks in when an IS2 shows up.

I am a German main before and after the merge. Back then we were Blitzkrieging the match and it felt to easy to grind points. Now we are literally being stormed by US paratroopers with US Thompsons, Bazookas, and P-47s from every direction. Some of these players have some eagle eyes pointing out the perfect coordinates.

As someone who made the mistake of starting as Japan a month or so ago….I was not aware you could win matches for quite a while. I assumed the point was just to see how long you could delay the loss. It feels a tad better now, but that was a brutal start. I spent most matches wishing it would have just let me keep playing against bots for a while longer

Japan is hands down the worst faction, _especially_ in lower battle rankings where you get to pick between an open top tank the enemy snipers can hit you inside, or a tank that won't let you shoot the turret and the machinegun at the same time as they're separate positions. All against proper US light tanks of course. Not to mention Japans first planes entire loadout is 4 bombs and it takes you 45 seconds just to get out of the water

I call this the see-saw phenomenon - one side carries the most weight and then forces the other to be lighter (and easier to play), but once something comes up it always come back down for the other side. Germany will probably see a resurgence once the steam version releases.

Playerbase < Matchmaking TBH Stacked players should face other stacked players in a game(should be mandatory), not solo players facing a stack of sweats on the opposing side unless they have a stacked team on their side. Players with specific battle-rank should be distributed evenly and not engage against a bunch of marshals or generals from the other team while you get newbies assuming they know what to do. Leaving a match should be heavily penalized, timeout, or zero exp gain and it affects WR if that match they left is lost.

Eh, it sounds good on paper. But doesn't really work in practise. I do agree that leaving a match should be penalized though, since it's a pretty scummy thing to do. But really, if you think about it, when's the last time you had fun with a KDR around 1 in any game? Of course, I'm not literally saying if skill-based matchmaking were implemented, everyone would have a KDR of 1. But it's essentially the goal of it, more or less. And well, quite frankly, disparity in performance is what makes PVP games fun. We don't watch KZbinrs like this one because we want to see someone get one or two kills, then immediately die. We watch them for the feeds, carrying games, smashing effortlessly through enemies. And likewise, we play PVP games for the same reason. Because we want to do the same. Skill-based matchmaking is just inherently designed to prevent that. Not to say it makes imbalance okay, but having both good matches and bad ones is unavoidable to make a PVP game that's actually fun. I do think an approach that could work, is still having random players in matches though. But giving each a skill value (like you mentioned), and just sorting them so each team has as close to an even amount compared to the other as possible. So, there would still be players who are a bit better than others in matches, but overall, there wouldn't be a significant gap in average skill between teams. Allowing you to actually progress in terms of skill while maintaining some degree of balance.

I'm just going to reiterate my point here, but shorter: Skill-based matchmaking sounds good on paper. But we play games to get good at them, and do good compared to others in matches. If you aren't doing good compared to others in matches, then you almost certainly aren't having fun, and aren't being rewarded for being skilled. Since you're effectively on the same skill level compared to everyone else, instead of progressing in relative performance. So, all it basically does, is ensure everyone has a mediocre-at-best 1 KDR experience. (again, not literally, but it's effectively what SBMM mechanics try to achieve with the way they're normally implemented) That, and it's also the only mechanic that makes smurfing a thing that exists. And believe me, people are going to.

I never fought the Italian paras. I was playing Berlin and honestly didn't even know about that event. Don't know what was going on but I missed the whole thing. Last time I played Tunisia was when it was an axis slaughterhouse with nothing but 300 kill allied games for anyone who knew their way around a Lee Enfield and a radio operator

This is how it is in a lot of FPS games. I remember playing Battlefield 1 and I won 9 straight matches, then a few days later I lost 7 or 8 matches in a row lol.

Not in enlisted, and not with axsis. Most of the games that resulted in victory were hard-carry from 2-4 dudes (including myself), its never the case with allies, there is never such a split between 3rd and 4th player.

German main, of course i don’t play BR 4-5 because full sweat against, but low tier is still a bit painfull especially when the game put you against BR3 and you suddently can’t pen ennemy tanks, planes got rocket and ennemies got full squad of 9 SMG/HMG somehow , and ally are as good as abscent, been 1st is rewarding at first, but 5 times in a row with more than 1k more than the 2nd is a bit boring, especially when it’s all defeat

Ong I switched form Maxed BR 5 to BR 2 but I somehow get flamethrower, grenade launchers and Sherman’s in my games. I mostly play on Normandy maps even tho they are BR 5. I rarely get into BR 2 matches but when i do, it’s always a win and Top 3

If developers don't incentivize "play any faction" as the default option, this is bound to always happen. Even giants like battlefield can't afford to divide the playerbase by factions and mains.

They can offer more exp/rewards for inferior factions to encourage people to play that faction more. Hence, balance out the game. Hero and General used to applied this method i believe, Enlisted can learn a lot from that game.

Formerly an Enlisted player, I played both German and Soviet armies but I progressed further on the German side. Played mainly in the Stalingrad Campaign because I enjoyed fighting in the city, and around snow covered factories in the country side. Before the merge, I could just buy items for specific campaigns because I was good at doing challenges but now I have to grind to unlock things I use to be able to just buy. The worst part of the merge is the destruction of historical accuracy in terms of armourment. I was thrown off seeing specific tanks, and guns that shouldn't be in certain battles. I miss being able to select specific battles I'd like to participate in. Likely I'll never return to Enlisted but I had a lot of fun playing it till the Merge.

Closed alpha test veteran here, I concur equipment was never an issue, except maybe for some exceptionally poor or massively overpowered tanks at certain tiers in certan factions. Unstable player base distribution among the factions have been causing this issue since the very beginning and Enlisted is constantly glossing over the fact by filling the teams with bot players with real player sounding names. I guess they're using that dynamic to sell premium squads hoping that most people won't notice that what they're perma-dominating are teams that have one real player at best. Here's some signs you might be the only real player on your team: - When you're attacking in Assault and the only point ever captured is the one you're capturing while your teammates fail to even contest the other one. - When in invasion, a bot team defending will put up no resistance and the enemy will run through each defense in less than a minute because a capable player will realize there's no need to smoke out pockets of resistance because the bots lingering around are no impedance to him making a run for the next capture point. Conversely, when a bot team is attacking, they'll fail to take the first capture point as the bot squads keep running into the same kill zones where the savvy opponent may have erected a stationary machine gun to keep mowing them down. Additionally, the enemy will have no difficulty going into the offensive and repeatedly raiding your engineer's spawn points out of commission and even erecting a forward defense at the very boundary of their battlefield. - The inherently dynamic conquest mode will turn rather static as you are only able to contest a single capture point while the others are always in the hands of your opponent. So no, Germany alone doesn't suffer. Enlisted suffers and that's Enlisted's fault. If it's annoying to you, then stop playing until things have shifted again and playing is fun and balanced again. Don't fall for the feedback loop of frustration that Gaijin is so fond of capitalizing on. Fuck that asshole snail, even if it makes some sick looking games don't let it hijack and control your life.

I remember when they inaugurated the infamous Stalingrad campaign, and its campaign pass system. I completed that campaign on the Soviet side without buying the pass, facing Mosin carbines against SGT42. In that campaign the imbalance was noticeable, even more so between premium and non-premium players. Since many premium players finished completing the high tier within a few days thanks to the experience bonus. The Soviet side was very abandoned, most of the time I had to play with allied bots that only went to the front to die in a stupid way and harm all the effort I had made to capture a point. I can't believe that in 2024 and after the merge there are so many people crying because they took away the possibility of farming points easily.

Nah they didn't, they just gave it exclusively to the US in BR 1-3 games against Japan players. Not enough of them play Japan tho, so you're lucky when you get matched against Japan essentially.

The axis faction may be losing in public matches but it doesn't help that we're mostly stuck with defender maps most of the time and the allies have perfect weapons for room clearing and breaking through objectives and I'm looking at you rocket spam

A big problem with axis seems to be the maps. At least half of the maps have a massive bias against them. Tractor factory is a prime example, every time I see that map half of the German team instantly quits because its both miserable to play and basically unwinnable. Goebbels street is another one. Basically unplayable from the spawn on the side of the mannor.

I think that's an Enlisted problem in general. Many maps have chokes for one faction or another. D-Day hell on the beach, then on the mountains if you don't hold it, that one Moscow map with the lumbermill and the river, the other Moscow map with the pillbox, univermag attacking side... The problems come when attackers have a big map advantage. A bunch of Soviet maps literally spawn the attackers closer to the point(often in the same building while defenders have to cross open ground) than the defenders or have a grey zone so close to the defenders it’s practically impossible to defend.

The first thing I thought when this whole meme started was "Didnt allies used to suffer in Normandy and Japan dominate in Pacific". Glad to see someone bring it up. After playing Planetside 2 for years this same stuff would happen every month, and it all came down to population and the groups of people who were playing and actually playing well. One faction would get a really good weapon people would complain on the forums, and then you would play an opposing faction in a good team and dominate said weapon users with ease. It truely is for the most part psychological.

so I played the axis faction yesterday and I think that its regaining a playerbase again, but the problem is that most new players either choose the US or axis faction at first, and by now they will probably earned a gold weapon order by now and spent it on a late game weapon like the FN model etc, and they dont know that those weapons automatically put them in high tier matches, and with the current tech tree (which is miles better than before the merge, I was wrong) doesnt give players a clear sign of engineer squads, and because of that the new players dont know the significance of engineers, and then the high tier matches have players who cant really contribute much in rallies etc. and then the few players who remain playing tier V axis matches leave because they just solo carry the entire team only to no avail, but now i think its going back, its like keepy ups, the ball changes foot every or every other kick, just like the player base at every update or so

I don't play Enlisted but played War Thunder extensively. I remember during New Year sale, BR 10.0 for Russia became absolutely unbearable, pretty sure I was losing at least 8/10 games. The reason being a lot of new players buying 10.0 premium tanks during the sale, causing the win rate for 10.0 Russia to plummet.

I am a german main and US second, with a good squad you can win. But it's such a pain without having to sacrifice wave after wave. It's like when Japan first came out, every match was a slaugther with Japanese players blitzing the map. It's a matter of server and player competency sometimes when half the team is tier i-ii and you have tier iv. People have to pull their weight in a server.

I started playing the game again a few months ago, I always play with allies and axis. I think I lost a total of 5 games with the Americans (I'm BR 3) and 90% with the Germans (BR 4). I have more fun with blondes, I want to unlock the Italian weapons so I would hate to give up. I also tried to start leveling the Soviets, but after losing two games in a row after only 10 minutes, I abandoned the idea. Im glad that you ve talk about this huge problem in a video.

yeah, I have to agree more with any point here that it's really just a self-fulfilling prophecy. Way too often I see Axis players - both in War Thunder (as Germany) and Enlisted - just playing well, kind of stupidly. Crutching on their Tigers, STG's, and so on because they're supposedly just superior and better. And when that doesn't work, it must just be some kind of mistake on the developers' part. While those they're fighting against think the same thing, and actually take them seriously as opponents. Because they aren't expecting their rifles, tanks, etc, to carry them. Instead playing smart, avoiding throwing themselves into the meat grinder, flanking, and placing rally points instead of the typical W + M1 gameplay you see from Axis/Germany. Honestly, even so, I'd say you can argue either faction is stronger or being biased toward/against. But at the end of the day, no FG42 or King Tiger can defeat a player who simply shoots first and plays smarter, regardless of what they're using. And really, I've played either side in both games, and as simple as it sounds, just recognizing the patterns of players and getting better at the game makes up for any disparity in balance. I wouldn't say this effect is as pronounced in Enlisted as it is in WT. I see similar things from both Axis and other factions more often, and it's more associated with tanks than small arms. But it's definitely present nonetheless. My advice though, for anyone who's struggling: Don't play absent-mindedly. You can get good at the game in a matter of days if you think about why you died, instead of getting frustrated about it. Change your tactics, try different loadouts, and different flank routes. Learn to read maps, and you'll start noticing the patterns. Doubling down on what you're already doing, just more aggressively, only rushes you to your death faster.

You're absolutely right. Balance doesn't just mean mirroring everything across factions, but giving different factions different strengths. Giving them flavour. And in a combined arms game, that also means having different factions being strong at different features. Your faction is weak at infantry but strong at armor? Well, how about you bring a vehicle to the fight. Your faction is weak at armor? Maybe bring aircraft. Use the strong part of your faction to overcome the weaknesses. I don't play Enlisted, but I know the same situation from other games. One faction seems completely overpowered and imbalanced, than suddenly it shifts and a different faction starts dominating. Without any changes to the gear, just a change in player population.

Any game in which stacking is possible and leads to great advantage will lead to one side being stacked. It was really visible in the mode Arma 3 King of the Hill (which was 1v1v1). Map dependent, people would tend to avoid specific factions. Generally the redfor would be stacked heavily. On Kavala, the most commonly played map, the blufor was squeezed between greenfor and redfor, and was generally de-stacked. People would generally only go blufor on that map to farm vehicles rather than trying to win.

I’m a German main (tier 5 I believe). But this is news to me. For the games I’m in it’s relatively balanced on wins and loses. And the most common matches we end up losing are against the Americans. But on the other end with fighting the Soviets it’s even more balanced from my experience. Sometimes I have a win streak or a lose streak but majority of those battles are always really close. One I had not to long ago we were getting our asses handed to us and we were pushed to the last defensive point really quick. Like one after another. But we help that point with tooth and nail and when there troops went down to about 50 left everyone just pushed forward and cleared out the stragglers. Like a full line cinematic counter attack. One of the best matches I’ve ever had.

Axis player here. At BR V the thing I see the most is mostly skill issue on german side. I went from near 68%wr to near 43% since Christmas and most of the losses were with suicide planes, suicide infantry (suicide players in general, to be short) BR I or II tanks on BR V, people with only Horn squad as tier V and the rest very low tier and so forth. More than "equipment balance", I feel there is a lot of people just camping or doing nothing. I'd seen things so extreme as 6 kills and 14 squad respawns with some regularity. After the 251 event, with people still not building rallies but the 251 doing it's work, things got a bit better in my experience. I don't know in other servers, but in NA often the experience seems to be "steamroll" or "be steamrolled"

Me and my friend got Enlisted 2 weeks ago and we played Japan and Germany (mainly Germany) and our first 5 games were all losses. A match usually goes for 20 - 25 minutes, we had 5 games and in an hour we did not win.

I used to play Germany after the merge because that was the faction I played most pre-merge. The day I finished BR 2, I immediately switched over to USSR. I had no idea about 'herding'. I just kept winning matches so I just thought that I was good. I had no idea that half the playerbase switched to USSR as well.

I actually think something that could be the "problem" here is that winning an assult mode as the attackers is rough. I almost always see the defenders win in that game mode. And it seems like that's the most frequently matchmade mode. Honestly, I'd rather have an option of what type of match I matchmake for.

I know a way to solve the problem that DBD (Dead By Daylight) uses. The game was suffering with long periods of match making, because in diferent times of the day there was too many killers or too many survivors, and to make a game start it needs in minimun 3 survivors and 1 killer (yes, you dont need the 4th surv to start). So to solve this, whe the game notices that there is too many killers the game gives a 100% coin bonus for every match for every survivor until the number of the killers and survivors reach a ballance or the survivors reach a bigger number mking the killers receive that bonus, and the bonus can be 50%, 75% and 100% depending on how big the diference of players is.

Back when berlin campaign was still in closed beta the axis had a small powercreep problem, US side on Normandy had the infamous Jumbo tank which could not be penetrated frontally with pz. IV unless you got lucky with the gun port. And that tank often camped behind the battle zone line. To counter it, your only option really was the large bomber plane, but the problem was to use that plane you needed to be very high lvl. Most players at that time didn't have that plane unlocked so the jumbo players had the field day. As time went on, more and more levels were grinded out and Axis players became dominant because late game gear on Axis was god-tier since FG 42 could be given to any soldier in squads, snipers had scoped variant but point remains. Allies did not have such a multi-class weapon thus max grinded Axis squads always had FG 42 on all soldiers that could equip it. Allies had their fair share of fun too but late game gear was not as good as Axis. As for Moscow campaign, that was the most laid back and balanced campaign you could play as most weapons were bolt-actions and semi-automatic rifles were unlocked at late game. It didn't matter if you were soviets or Axis there, games were always fun and challenging at same time. But once the Berlin dropped, it was heavily Soviet sided not because all players played on soviet side, but because some of the most powerful soviet weapons like PPSH was unlocked too early in the game. That weapon alone was the reason why Soviets were so dominant at the early days of Berlin campaign. Axis who were able to grind out MG42 were able to put up a fight but the map design itself didn't help too much either as Axis did not have any solid terrains to set up a proper defense, making rushing control points meta. No matter how good Axis were, they HAD to tryhard to even have a slight chance of winning. And my final campaign before quitting, Tunisia, Axis was a joke, Not only did Allies get semi-automatic weapons early on, they also had better tanks and planes. Late game Axis could put up a fight but the terrain and map layout was built in a way that neither attacking or defending side could do anything properly Whoever got on the point mostly likely dominated the point. I believe the main reason why 1 side or another was more dominant was due to tech tree unlocks, if OP weapon was unlocked early on, that side automatically dominated like PPSH squads in Berlin. Overtime that wouldn't matter of course but only ones who would grind out the good weapon are tryhards, average player would only get like 5-10 levels and be done with it. And since Axis had better stuff unlocked like after lvl 20, it made sense why Axis suffered at beginning while Soviets and U.S had fun at lvl 4-9.

Queria liberar mais armas, não tenho conta premium (terceiro mundo problems T-T) e sinto que está demorando bastante pra liberar qualquer arma! Sou muito bom em jogos de FPS, então consigo me virar e me divertir, mas as vezes o jogo fica tão frustrante que dou o famoso rage quit e voufazer outras coisas. E outra, eu nao gosto de jogar com modo de squad, apesar de ser o foco do jogo, eu gasto todas minhas partidas jogando aquele modo solo, pesquisando por partidas criadas ou servidores, ainda nao entendi exatamente o que são. Tem como liberar com a mesma facilidade a árvore tecnológica nesse modo solo? Ou deveria jogar em squad pra pesquisar as coisas? Digo, quero saber se tem alguma diferença, pois jogo war thunder e no modo realista, que voce joga com apenas uma aeronave, você ganha muito mais pontos que no modo arcade. It feels frustrating that the german playerbase seems currently incapable of playing objectives... they sit around capture points instead of going onto them to prevent the loss of the point. Players farming kills outside the objectives instead of supporting the defense... if you are lucky there's 2 people who build rallies, usually I feel rather left alone with that task most of the time. Tankers driving right into the incoming infantry and exploding within seconds before the first enemy tank comes around the corner and obliterates your infantry... hella fun as of late xD It wasn't like that a few weeks ago. Winrate dropped from 75 all the way down to 54 and still falling... Out of curiousity I tried playing Soviets and oh boy... wins, wins, wins... matches gone by faster than a hiccup.

Biggest culprit is the matchmaking system imho, it should create a balanced lobby before launching a match. Seems like the game creates a match (with factions and map selected) and then fills it up with any players available. Leading to those matches where there's one experience player on one side and a full veteran team on the other.... Adding the lack of a middle BR bracket and sometimes I'm the only experienced player in BR 3 fighting a full team of veteran BR 5 My solutions would either be: - Create a middle BR2-3-4 bracket - Count every weapon BR towards a total points level --> gets you in a precise BR range (rather than having one good weapon shifting your whole BR)

As a German main I must say I am having easy days just by the start of this month. Team balancing is now more optimised to German. For the few months before, I could hardly find a half team of true human players in German, it is easy to confirm it when you try blacklisting a bot it won't show the unblock command, but just keeps the blacklisting command by the 2nd click
